Howard Stern Hearts Korn
I never (never ever ever nerver) have liked Korn, but I just had to watch this video...
Howard Stern on his radio show this morning:
"It’s probably the most inspirational, the most spectacular understanding of what’s going on in this country right now. I believe that young people – I’m talking about people 18, 16, 20 – are freaking out right now because of what is going on with the religious right. They are angry. They are angry about the corporations running the music business. They are angry with the radio business. They are angry. And this Korn video, if you can get your hands on it, is the best music video I have ever seen."
The video shows the members of Korn smashing up the inside of a brick-and-mortar record chain while thought-provoking truths about the big business of music flash up on the screen. Shot at an out-of-business Los Angeles record store, the enraged band storm through the aisles, violently smashing more than 20,000 CDs and display cases with crowbars. Fans join the frenzy as windows are broken and the store is ultimately destroyed. Interspersed with the band footage are statements questioning the practices of the music industry:

first of all, I can't believe that video costs $150,000 bucks- any film student could make it for about 7 grand!!! but the issues raised are valid and important ones

i heard that today. i just got home from the erykah badu concert- BEST SHOW EVER- but she went into a 30 minute speech about how the government are going after the radio the "lowest form" of communication or something and putting what they want on. but she ended it with how we are have so much fear pumped into us by people (obviously.) anyway, i'm mostly paraphrasing and i can't remember it ALL but that was the jist of it.

7000 grand might even be pushing it... I could shoot it on DV with a 3ccd camera, spend about 100 bucks on tapes, buy pizza for extras and trash my friend's record store, then I would edit the video myself. viola! a new Korn vid.

I love Korn, first off I think they rock. Howard Stern has been coming out of my radio at 6:30 am for the past two years, I am so pissed about what our government is pulling over our eyes. Capitalism my ass. This video represents me and all my friends about how we feel about all this shit thats going on in the music business. I hate listening to the radio, even rock stations, they suck so bad because they play the same bs over and over and over until I want to vomit because the song that I actually liked is now a piece of stale ass because its been played for two months straight non-stop. Korn, I respect you not only for being the coolest rock band in the world, but for having the balls to make this video and tell the truth to the people that don't want to listen. Rock on.

What about the record label Korn started with The Firm?
The label functioned as a boutique of sorts whereby Korn could find an act it liked, connect it with a willing record company and then earn profits from the band's subsequent album sales.

But the project was not successful, even after a tour with Rob Zombie and Korn in 1999.
"We were thrown to the wolves ...," Videodrone singer Elam said. "Elementree and Korn were so busy with their thing, they didn't have a lot of time for the label. But they hoped the bands they signed would be treated fairly."
Ultimately, the album didn't recoup the $500,000 it cost to make, and Videodrone was dropped from its label.

Korn's a bunch of fuckin' hypocrites. They are just as guilty of taking advantage of bands as they claim the record industry is. Hell, they have become part of the record industry.
Don't fall for their b.s. Korn commodifies kids' anger to line their own pockets.

KoRn f*ing rocks. they are the shizzle. howard stern too, hes a real person with real views that are all his and they arent sugarcoated. Although KoRn migh tbe doing this to make money, think abotu it this way, at the same time we are listening to the radio less, we are pissed at goverment, if anything they deserve the oney for such awesome music, views, and getting the truth out there. the money in it for them is just the icing on the cake if you get what im saying. and whats wrong with making money by signing bands? its everyones goal, why not make money if you can? email me with ur feedback please. alewis18@tmail.com
