While you're listening, you can read about Joe's strict two-week liver cleanse ("My wife and I took my mother-in-law to a movie for Mother's Day. Don Cheadle's voice was so smooth and smoky, all I could think about were those hickory flavored Pringles and a cream soda").

Sweet. I happened upon the new Pernice Bros. tracks last week but didn't have my headphones at work so I couldn't listen. Thanks for the reminder. Sounds a little glossier than "Yours, Mine and Ours". I'm always hearing The Smiths and The Zombies being invoked when reading about The Pernice Brothers, but on those first two new tracks, I'm distinctly hearing echoes of Nick Lowe's "Pure Pop For Now People" (or "Jesus of Cool" for you Brits).

those guys were in an awesome band back in Northampton, MA. years ago called the Scud Mountain Boys. I really dislike most of the alt-country stuff but they were better than that and not milking it as a gimmick. I haven't heard too much Pernice Bros. stuff but what I've heard I absolutely love. I'm always happy to see them in the press. They're mensch.

I love Joe Pernice's sleepy voice. I have a live show downloaded somewhere and his weird staggery speaking voice is especially great when telling stories about the songs. When they announce they're going to play "Grudgefuck" (which just might be the one of the top ten greatest break-up songs, ever) some guy yells out at the top of his lungs, "Yeah! YEAH!" and Joe goes, "Easy, easy. I swear people scream the loudest for the most hateful numbers. It's really true."

i'd love for this to be on mtv2. you know hanging with chan marshall or malkmus in their "crib". that would be wonderful, hopefully cribs will catch on, because there are only so many b-list sports starts they can cram into an episiode with one somewhat famous musician (isn't mtv supposed to be about the music)?
