Inside The Rockers Studio: Midlake, Plus Exclusive "Young Bride" Remix

We've got an exclusive new Midlake tune for ya today. The '70s-lovin' Texans' acclaimed Trials Of Van Occupanther gets a domestic release next week.

For this remix of "Young Bride" the band's enlisted the Cure's "Roger O'Donnell" and his trusty Moog. Spacey!

Midlake - "Young Bride" (Roger O'Donnell Remix) (MP3)

My Name Is Earl's Jason Lee says, "The Trials of Van Occupanther is now one of the most important modern records I own. In an age of overly-used irony and disconnected nonchalance, this record actually means something, and Midlake should be forever hailed for their unique and genuine approach to music. Simply put, Van Occupanther has backbone, and the fact that you don't feel cheated by it gives one hope that sincerity can still exist within modern alternative music."

Jason named his son after a song from Sophtware Slump, so there's a good chance his next kid will be named Roscoe.

If you dig O'Donnell's "Bride," check out this new Casettes Won't Listen remix too.

What a bad and terribly, terribly overhyped album. A Pitchfork 5 or 6 is surely coming.

totally bland album. this is a pr conspiracy perpetrated on the somewhat suspecting masses. after "roscoe," shit is staid. and sorry, jason lee is funny, but obvs doesn't know music. lots of modern records should be ahead of this one.

Roger O'Donnell is no longer with the Cure, FYI. He was fired about a year ago along with Perry Bamonte.

it's not even a "pr" conspiracy, it's a blogger conspiracy. "blogger phenom" is starting to become code for "bland, unremarkable, middle-of-the-road indie pop"

I can totally picture Brooke Burke hosting "Inside the Rockers' Studio."

"Rock...rocker...rockin'...rock N roll...rockasdjflkasdf..."

You are all nuts. This record is amazing from start to finish. I can think of albums a lot more bland than this one that are trumpeted by the blogs. You ever think that, instead of conspiracy, people like this record because it's good and they, um, like it? I will not stand by and let this band be impugned by your childish backlash.
