which is sad, because i rather like cacophonous punk cabaret tunes. but that mime makeup crap? too much.

anyway, amanda palmer is the arch-nemesis of one of my friends in boston, so like, i'm more than a little biased against anything she does.

(additionally: i was secretly pleased that their show at sxsw this year was at the hard rock cafe. ha!ha!ha!)

Yikes! bile

As a pseudo-native Bostonian I rock the hometown band thing a bit, but hell, I was at their "anti-Valentines Day" show in Philly and, well, drunkenly kept doing the Boston shout-out thing, and Amanda said something to the effect of "Yr not missing anything in Boston" - boo to that!

I totally enjoyed the show - Brian Viglione (drummer) is most definitely one of the best percussionists I have ever seen live - and the theater involved with his playing makes it even better -

I don't mind the makeup - I like the songwriting, and it's a healthy change from the droll pop eminating from, well, everywhere - they also do very good Morrisey covers -

Anyway, I give the vid. a B.

And who is this arch nemesis in Boston you speak of Ms. "Curtie", for I have an idea or two...

i heart the dresden dolls... they are so much fun, witty storytelling, but the really good song is not "girl anachronism" it's "half jack." that song gets me every time!

love it, of course. this is the best post-breakup album ever. In fact, it was after one particularly attentive listen to "Good Day" that I picked myself off the floor and went out dancing and never looked back.
