Jack White To Play The King

We have nothing to back this but an off-hand tease in an IGN.com article, but Jack White may be in talks to play the best singer of all time, Elvis Presley, in a feature-length parody of recent biopics like Walk The Line and Ray, entitled Walk Hard. IGN.com writes:

The late Elvis Presley may live onscreen once again, this time played by another rocker. The forthcoming musical biopic parody Walk Hard stars John C. Reilly as a Johnny Cash/Roy Orbison-type rockabilly singer named Dewey Cox whose professional and personal ups and downs are recounted in the film.

And who might play The King? None other than Jack White from The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. White is no stranger to Hollywood, having played small roles in Cold Mountain and Coffee and Cigarettes.

IMDB confirms John C. Reilly's involvement, and ups the awesome with The Office's Jenna Fischer, SNL standout and Stereofave Kristin Wiig, and Anchorman's David Koechner ("Whaaamy!"). Alas, no official confirmation on Jack just yet -- but as these pics show, it's the role he's been pouting for his whole career.

UPDATE: NME had it confirmed.

White looks more like Michael Jackson than Elvis, at least in that pic.

He'll have to eat a "Seven Nation Army" to gain enough weight to play late career Elvis.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Not sure if he can act, but you know who looks like Elvis? Isaac Brock.

that'd be entertaining to see Jack pull that off. Is he going to play Fat Elvis or Skinny Elvis?

Are you actually implying that Jack White would have to learn how to sing terribly? And you are making that comment when refferencing the fact that he would be emmulating Elvis? If that is so, you need to remove your head from whereever it is stuck.
Elvis may not be the greatest singer ever, in contrast to that silly list, but surely he can sing better than Jack White.
Elvis, with every one of his faults, was a great entertainer with a lot of vocal talent.
He couldn't write or play guitar for shit, but the man could sing.

Is it fair to compare a mugshot photo to a professional promo photo?

I don't see it. It's a parody, certainly, but Jack White looks absolutely nothing like the King. He sounds nothing like him, looks nothing like him and, well, he's a far worse actor than Presley. It's true. I like Jack a lot, and I'll pretty much follow him to the ends of the earth musically, but I can't support his "artistic" leanings.

Yeah i definitely don't know why Jack White got the role of Elvis.
But it doesn't matter because on concept alone, this is going to be an awesome movie.

I think it might work if they are indeed parodying the fact that many of the musicians/actors in Walk the Line looked nothing like the people they were playing.

Doesn't sound like Elvis??? Where are you people living???? Listen to "Hypnotize" or "Baby Brother" or "lets build a house" among others and you'll hear the resemblance! He really doesn't look like him I agree. I just can't believe how no one talks about the singing resemblance on those 50's-inspired songs.
