Jedi Mind Tricks Sample Sufjan Stevens
I much prefer Rappers Delight Club, but Ikon the Verbal Hologram and Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind at least get points for sampling "Dumb I Sound" from A Sun Came.
This is from Jedi Mind Tricks' Servants In Heavan, Kings In Hell (out 9/19 on Babygrande). My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worden (who also sang on Illinois) provides vocals.

FYI, these days Ikon goes by the name Vinnie Paz.
I met Stoupe a couple of times when I was at Swarthmore College (he worked on campus and did a show on WSRN, our college station). He's a talented guy.

Heh, small world (or big readership). I went to Haverford, but majored in Ling at Swat (and laughed rather a lot at the "rivalry").
What era did he work there?
I've always gone back and forth with Jedi Mind Tricks. For me, they end up being the poster child for "I listen to them for the beats." I'm sure I'll get massive shit for that here (people need something to do, I suppose).

I graduated in 1999, so he worked there in the late 90s. I imagine he must have left soon thereafter, once Violent By Design blew up. He worked at Essie Mae's (the snack bar) and DJed a Friday night hip hop show on WSRN. The rhymes on their first two albums are quite good, though recent releases haven't been up to par lyrically. I'm still a fan of the group though, and always look forward to hearing new stuff from them.
