Jenny Lewis Raps
No, rilokiley.com is not streaming hip-hop a la MC Ryan Adams. But following last week's revelation that Jenny Lewis hearts Too $hort, we took another look at the indie pin-up's "music that changed my life" feature from the April Spin. (Thanks Kris!)

Too Short Life Is... Too Short JIVE, 1988
"Too Short is the voice of my conscience -- somewhere in the back of my mind he's saying, 'Yo, bitch. Shut the fuck up.' 'Don't Fight the Feelin' is a classic male-female battle, but the girls rebut Too Short's dirty verse with an even filthier verse, so there's some fairness in the workplace on that record. If you're a feminist, don't burn your bra, just recite that rap to your boss. You'll get a raise for sure."

But ... if you get fired, blame Too $hort, not Jenny please.
Oh, and the title of this entry? "I used to write raps," Jenny told Spin. "But I burned them because I was so embarrassed." We found one:

She makes BORING music, but she does like some great hip-hop shit. Souls Of Mischief? Freestyle Fellowship? Black Sheep? De La? JB's? Dope!

It's good that we're talking about something that came out in a magazine 6 months ago. Very timely.

i don't think I'm out of line in thinking that Jenny Lewis could do justice to "Ring the Alarm". And that Watson Twins could do whatever they do....what DO they do, anyways?

Howcum in every photo I've seen of her lately, she's got her eyes rolled to the heavens - as if Too Short just gave her an engagement ring or something. . .
