Katie Melua Performs Underwater

Georgian-born (the country, not the state) singer/songwriter Katie Melua, now Britain's biggest selling female artist, has set a world record by performing 994 feet under the North Sea yesterday.

Reuters reports that Melua and her band rocked the bottom of a hollow concrete leg that helps support a Norweign offshore platform used for natural gas production. The 1,548-foot tall platform was towed ten years ago, making it the largest structure ever moved by humans.

Are we supposed to be impressed by that, Katie? K-Fed can smoke a cigarette underwater!

Put THAT in your Guiness Book.

Who was she meant to be performing to? The oil?

speaking of world records, an aussie/canadian artist called brian campeau and his band set the world record for longest continuous band performance a few weeks ago as part of sydney university's arts festival.

50 hours. straight.

Speaking of records, I am supercool. But apart from that, I just wanted to say that her performance was part of the Troll A-platform birthday-bash. We Norwegians easily admit that we are filthy rich.
