Kooks Watercooler

Lily Allen's haterade got me curious about the Kooks. I know they're bloody huge across the pond, with two hit singles, but I haven't listened to this band much. Dig the Gnarls cover, but then again, I've yet to meet a cover of "Crazy" I don't like.

So here's the song that will be the Kooks' first US single (album's out 10/3). Sure we could name a half dozen other bands who this sounds like, but it's a fun burst of summer rock 'n' roll. Wonder why Lily's picking on them. Maybe Luke asked for her phone number?

PLEASE GOD NO!!
Pray to the heavens that the Kooks don't infest your large country!
They're horrendous, awful c*nts.
They're all over the radio here in the UK, and their biggest hit SOUNDS JUST LIKE TWO PRINCES BY THE BLOODY SPIN DOCTORS!!!
And what's worse, is that it infests inside your cranium for days on end, stopping you from thinking about ANYTHING ELSE AT ALL.
Fair enough eddies gun is about when the singerr couldn't "raise a smile" for his then bird Katie Melua, BUT THAT'S THE ONLY INTERSTING THING ABOUT THEM!
AND THIS IS ANOTHER 2 MINUTES OF MY LIFE THAT WON'T RETURN DUE TO THE KOOKS!
sorry for all the shouting...
to reiterate:
KOOKS = TEH SPIN DOCTORS IN LIBERTINE CLOTHING. C*NTS!

The first time I read that headline, I thought it said "Kooks Winecooler" and was excited by the possibility of a band doing some kind of cross-promotion with Bartles & James.

Does anyone really need another British hype guitar band? Not me, anyway--can't say I'm impressed with this or the other songs I've heard from them.

"I've yet to meet a cover of "Crazy" I don't like."

That will all change when Chris Carrabba finishes recording his "Crazy" cover.

I saw them in Glasgow in December before coming back to the States. They do put on an amazingly great live show. It teeters on contrived, but that lead singer really believes he's onto something and it does make for some excitement

Chris Carrabba? Sorry dude, but I'm afraid it's skipped over incessant whining and has gone straight to utter crap:

I saw them in Austin during SxSW and they had 238797925 professional photographers snapping away during their performance. I mean they weren't bad but I was surprised to see such attention.
