Dude - stereogum is all I read because after a few months of wading through the blog world - I've discovered that Whatevs can be funny but is so caught up in self reference and he's like that kid who keeps thinking he's made up a new hot slang term that everyone's going to jump on. Oh wait, no, he IS that kid.
Anyway - I think it's all due to some weird complex about living in Detroit. Like that same kid who pretends that his house doesn't smell funny but everyone else is like, come on man - your place stinks. It's not your fault though.
Coolfer wants to talk shop about the music business but comes at it from a really limited perspective - tantamount to the receptionists and assistants at Universal Music Group who post to Velvet Rope all day based upon some gossip they heard out of their bosses office. It's not that I think the Killers suck, it's that I find them so mediocre. Have a look at Scott's side bar -- on any given day you'll find music there that's 10x more interesting than what the killers doing, IMO anyway.

Thanks for being a year too late on the Unicorns, Spin, last summer they couldn't sell out their ATL show (which was awesome, wait....now that I think about it, The Arcade Fire opened for the Unicorns that show....aaand I just got home from an Arcade Fire show like 15 minutes ago...CRAZY!...but I digress), and now they're splitsville.
On a related note, did anyone else think the last issue of Rolling Stone was really lame. Like, cover-to-cover, I-actually-looked-at-the-ads-in-my-desperate-search-for-content lame. And short, which was a blessing in a way.

And on a music related note, and I am sure this will make some people happy, the U2 fanclub really f-ed up with their pre-sales ticket sales. I would love to bitch about that. Anyone else? Joined the fanclub for $40 and got worse seats than I did in 2001. Three rows from the back of the United Center, $100 a piece, and that was with my fanclub code!!! U2, like the president, gets my appreciation when its earned. This was plain old bait and switch.

Re: Brandon's performance anxiety
The performances I've seen of the Killers are: 1) AOL session which was in a studio, that should have been easy for Brandon, 2) the 'Somebody' video - still no knowledge of how to use his body and really 'perform', and 3) SNL - yes, very stiff and awkward. It sucks because he's got a really good voice and I think the song rocks. If he knew how to perform for an audience he could really create a hot performance. I mean, has anyone said anything to him?
Therefore, is the make-up on the cover of Spin their use of a different kind of performativity? Cmon, do tell.
