Lindsey Buckingham Live

We already told you to buy Lindsey's excellent new album. Hopefully some of you did. In lieu of hyping his boring new video for "Show You How" (we think he made it himself in iMovie), here's some fan footage of "Save Me A Place" from last week's show at "Town Hall."

Like us, Pernice Brother dummer Patrick Berkery took issue with Bob Lefsetz's allegation that LB is "a chick act now."

Bob-

Gotta call you on labeling Lindsey Buckingham a 'chick act.' Just saw him twice in one week (NYC & AC) and he's clearly a 'cult act.'

It's a very boutique crowd he pulls these days, there to see the guy behind Tusk and those solo albums you call `hookless' (Ever heard Trouble? Countdown? Bwana? Show You How? You could land Jaws with those, my friend). He played to about 1,000 at Town Hall, about 750 on a Sunday night at the Borgata - 65 % guys, 35 % 'chicks.' Fevered Lindsey fanatics of all ages, shapes and sizes - wearing homemade shirts, clutching vinyl copies of Tusk & Buckingham/Nicks - the whole bit. They yelled out requests for 'The Ledge,' 'Save Me a Place' and 'Johnny Stew' and Lindsey seemed genuinely floored. Dude was clearly loving every minute of it - taking requests on the spot (they worked up 'Save Me...' right on the spot in New York - check it on You Tube), rolling around on the floor, and playing the shit out of those weird guitars. Most punk rock soft rock shows I've ever seen. More power to him.

I caught the Town Hall and A.C. show and the guy is truly incredible. Heard a rumor that there will be another round of dates in early 2007. Fingers are crossed!

Hey, the drummer of one of my two favorite bands is praising the lead guitarist of my other favorite band! That's hot.

I'm going to be doing the scream for "Save Me A Place" and "Down on Rodeo," the two songs he seems to be taking the most calculated "requests" for.

Lefsetz is in this case, with all due respect, a dumbass (Sorry, Bob). There are a few major differences between Buckingham and today's 'chick-rockers' like the dreaded Ryan Cabrera & Howie Day.

First: attention to craft.

Second: desire to produce work that has artistic merit, self-aggrandisement be damned.

Third: his guitar playing would smoke those wimps and stomp on the ashes.

So what if he's gone a little romantic. Buckingham stands tall.

Who cares what Lefsetz thinks? In the same article, he praises Nickelback -- nuff said.

Saw the Town Hall show in NYC...man, he outdid my expectations. Lindsey is amazing. The show was great and them learning "Save Me A Place" right in front of us was so cool.

Gotta say, show highlight for me was the new take on my favorite Tusk song "I Know I'm Not Wrong"...had a punky vibe to it...I wish there was a video of that somewhere!!
