How the heck did the Killers get picked for this? I'm not a Killers hater by any means (although they are a lackluster live band at best), but come on...

what? no scissor sisters & pink floyd doing that god awful SS cover together? they definitely didn't think up enough combos.

although i do have to say, i'm really interested in seeing the coldplay/richard ashcroft performance.

Holy hell. I never thought I would look forward to seeing Elton perform... But two of his great classics and a T.rex cover. Nice.

Seriously, holmes. I want a snoop dogg/velvet revolver combo. perhaps covering the theme song from the movie "arthur".

Woah, woah, woah! UB40's playing 'Red, Red Wine?'

The mind boggles!

Also: They have a song other than 'Red, Red Wine?'

I agree with the "Bittersweet Symphony" assessment... that would be pretty interesting.

I can see MTV just airing reruns of "Room Raiders" for the entire block from Ms. Dynamite to UB40, though.

The general MTV watching audience says of the line-up:

"They're like, pre-empting 'Next' for like, this?? Omigod, I've like, never, like, even like, heard of half of these, like, people! Like, who are they?"

Ya gotta admit this lineup is mostly has-beens: Brit-twits, self-loving wankers, and such.

Is Madonna singing "Music" because it's got that line about "the bourgeoisie"? :P And when I go to Hell, I imagine that they'll be playing "Red Red Wine". Definitely beats "We Built This City" for WORST. SONG. EVER.

umm....grand finale: paul mccartney, mick jagger, and GEORGE MICHAEL? dunno. strikes me as odd, that. can totally see mick gettin' all hip wiggly while stealing 'faith' from mr. michael. think they'll finish with that? would crack me up. prob just rip off another dylan track though. 'the times, they are a-changin' anyone?

This coverage is absolute garbage. Why bother?

Shut the fuck up John Norris so I can hear Travis play live. I hear them in teh background. There's Fran! Oh, thanks, they cut to a compilation of performances that happened earlier. Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft! Wow! Thanks for the 20 seconds of it.

Fuck you and fuck Live 8. Fuck Africa. No one gives a shit about starving kids anyway.

Don't hate,

but, yeah, that last "grand finale" doesn't look promising.

Waiting for Floyd

Good source for the line up, thanks, but the songs listed are not completely accurate. Still, what a day!

I agree that the webcast is much better than expected.

Also waiting for Floyd...

The biggest reunion in rock history, that should be the finale and it should be WAY longer...at least they aren't playing another brick in the wall (thank god!!) Wish you were here....I can't wait!!

Anyone, what is the name/artist of that recorded song they played while showing the short film of the starving kids? It was played just prior to Bob Geldof introducing the young girl that survived.

Also, Neil Young owns Canada --his Toronto set was fantastic.

I was gobsmacked by the Killers they were so good. It is amazing to see a good american rock n' roll band, I really thought they were English.
Bravo
