Live At St. Ann's Warehouse

I used to love Aimee Mann in high school. Like, to the point of seeing five of her concerts in one year. I remember Kennedy interviewing her on Alternative Nation before they debuted "I Should've Known" (which I put on a lot of mix tapes). Anyway, she's great live. One time she started taking requests and someone asked for ABC's "Poison Arrow." And she played it! Well, a little of it. Here's the scoop on her upcoming live CD/DVD.

Live at St. Ann's Warehouse CD track listing:
The Moth

Sucks that there's no "Voices Carry."

I work in West LA and I see Aimee quite often. (She sees the therapist on the second floor.) Apparently she has a lot of problems because I see her crying everytime she leaves the office---she then hits up 711 for a pack of smokes.

AHHH! Stop reading my mind!!! I was just listening to "I'm with Stupid" yesterday and the day before. I've actually been singing "Amateur" around the office all day.

Some of you must have Largo stories? If I lived in LA I would be there all the time. Does Jon Brion still do that?

have you seen that film called 'what happened was' where "voices carry" is playing over the opening credits? ... sadly, i don't have any interesting Largo stories but jon brion is still doing his friday night residencies.

And now you've made me think of the video for "Voices Carry." Damn you, stereogum! :)

"What happened, practice run late?"
: dirty look of disgust :
"Why can't you for ONCE do something FOR ME?"
"Like what?"
And...it's Aimee in a pillbox hat!

Saw Aimee @ Lillith Fair few years back...was prety damn good. She refuses to do "Voices Carry" even gets upset when people scream for it. No wonder the girl is in therapy!

Saw her and Michael Penn on the "Acoustic Alchemy" tour at Birchmere in Virginia a couple years ago. David Cross opening up and doing between-song chatter for them. It was like my dream show! Interestingly, although no 'Til Tuesday stuff, they did encore with MP's "No Myth."

Sucks that there's no "Voices Carry."

Or "Ghost World," or "Fifty Years After The Fair," or "Choice In The Matter" . . .

My friend made me a mixed CD for my birthday and put "Coming up Close" on it, which I never really paid attention to before, but it worked on the CD...

did you love her in that Rush video?

What Rush video?

Also, she often performs a stripped-down "Voices Carry" ... just not on the last tour I guess. I think I saw them do "No Myth" too.

I love Patton Oswalt is their opening act because they don't like stage banter.

I've got a great live bootleg where she and Penn do Voices Carry as an encore... except that Michael sings the first verse, and when Aimee comes in to do the second verse, she kinda makes a joke out of it. They do the song from time to time, but they don't take it too seriously. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this live stuff coming out!

I saw Mr. Brion two weeks ago. I used to go every Friday for, like, two years but sort of burned out. Now I go sporadically, but he's still fucking brilliant. At that show, I requested My Bloody Valentine and he recreated "Only Shallow" so perfectly/loudly that my eyes almost exploded. Perfection.

I also managed to catch Aimee at Largo back in May. She played an excellent new song about a person trying to quit crack in time for Christmas. Only Aimee...

Remember a TT song called "Love In a Vaccuum"? Wonder if she'd do that! Ha.

aimee mann is a genius! it angers me though radio has ignored her almost completely.
i'll take aimee over ANY so called "artist" [give me a damn break!] any day!
they wish they had aimee's lyrical talent as well as her songwriting smarts. every person i try to turn into an aimee fan has never been a success. they rather hear britney, christina, or celine because they are "mainstream talent"
i always get "aimee WHO?" they finally listen to her, and i ALWAYS, ALWAYS get negative responses.
it's too wierd...it's not "mainstream" enough....is that on the right speed?
I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MAINSTREAM CRAP!!!!!!!!!
AIMEE IS THE BEST AND ONLY ARTIST THERE IS AND ,BY GOD, IF I COULD TURN THE WORLD ENTIRE INTO AIMEE FANS....I WOULD!!!!!
AIMEE....I LOVE YOU....YOUR NO.1!!!!!

sounds like all of you are sort of fans of aimee. i saw her 2x. the keswick theater was awesome in philadelphia, the other at TLA.
my friends and co-workers don't think much of her because most have never heard of her, besides "MAGNOLIA", which still doesn't help because they never saw the film. i personally put ALL the blame on the record companies during the 90's. reading EVERY article and logging onto EVERY website repeatedly about A.M. i have grown to have much respect for her and her battles with them. standing her ground, she won!!!
THANK GOD FOR PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON TO THE RESCUE!
seems like aimee had the last laugh after all.
