Live My Morning Jacket - "O Is The One That Is Real"

Over four full-length records and seven some-odd years, Jimmy James and his Kentucky-fried crew have earned raves for putting out one of '05's best albums (Z), for having one of the most dynamic vocalists in rock, and for being the closest thing America has to Radiohead. And you'll find support for each of those claims -- as well as that "best live band in the country" tag some bandy about -- on MMJ's live album Okonokos.

Recorded over two nights at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore in November of '05, the double-disc catches the band at the crest of its abilities and acclaim. We chose this stream to share with y'all both 'cause it's a relative rarity (off of 2002's split EP with Songs: Ohia) and 'cause it has the dynamics, big vocals, and southern-rock guits that make MMJ shows so smashing. He's no Borat, but that Jim has got some heart.

My Morning Jacket - "O Is The One That Is Real" (QT | Real)

Okonokos is in stores now, with a live DVD slated for release 10/31.

I've never had the good fortune of seeing the wonderful My Morning Jacket perform but I would imagine it would be a great experience. The reverb-soaked country rock would translate well, especially at SF's Fillmore. I'm hoping for a playlist of mostly 'It Still Moves' but I think iTunes may have released this live record already. I may be wrong though.

I got the chance to see them live in may and they were amazing. One of the most talented live bands I have ever seen.

I want a live DVD of their Bonnaroo 2005 set to surface more badly than I can really describe in words.
