Lollapalooza 2008 Headliners, Partial Lineup Leaked

thumbnail icon: Lollapalooza 2008 Headliners, Partial Lineup Leaked

Just when we were thinking we could get away with just one trip to Chicago this summer, Lolla drops details on the sort of lineup we were expecting to see from the Coachella folks a few months ago. Jim DeRo over at the Sun-Times gets his claws on the first confirmed information. Headliners:

Radiohead
Nine Inch Nails
Rage Against The Machine
The Raconteurs
Wilco
Kanye West

Some home town heavyweights, some Lolla '06 alum, some potential for projectiles. Just a tip for the folks at Lolla promoting company C3: Keep Radiohead and Reznor's green rooms far away, and their internet connections even further. And the early leak doesn't stop there. Also confirmed: Grizzly Bear, Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Stephen Malkmus, Battles, Cat Power, Girl Talk, Jamie Lidell, and -- returning to the scene of our favorite show of 2006 -- Broken Social Scene.

The full lineup announcement comes Monday, which has become the most exciting concert announcement day in recent memory. The full list of what we know, below.

Radiohead
Nine Inch Nails
Rage Against The Machine
The Raconteurs
Wilco
Kanye West
Grizzly Bear
Gnarls Barkley
The Black Keys
Broken Social Scene
Mates Of State
Bloc Party
Cat Power
Stephen Malkmus
Girl Talk
Kid Sister
The Cool Kids
Battles
The Go! Team
Jamie Lidell
Office

It seems like Lolla always gets a bunch of bands that played the previous year's Pitchfork Festival

Lollapalooza's 8 stage extravaganza is such a different beast than the 3 stage Pitchfork Fest. of course there will be some crossover of bands playing both fests in different years. I am happy that I live in Chicago and can take public transportation to these great music fests

Yeah & now they see P4K as competition, I remember reading how they outbid for Yeasayer, who I think are more fit for P4K.

Oh and to prove I'm not just into 90s nostalgia acts... Autolux.

If Coachella can have 3 out of 4, why can't Chicago?

Radiohead? Guess I'[m gonna have to go get some industrial strength amphetamines to stay awake. Worst. Live. Band. Ever. Seriously, those mannequins in Kraftwerk had better stage presence.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
