Madonna Records Lourdes's Peace Poem

Madonna has set her daughter's anti-war poem "History" to music and made it a b-side to her "Jump" CD single.

I looked all around the world
Nobody has it better than we do
One thing I don't Understand
Why don't we help more people
Cause we can.

Why are we seperated? Defined by our greed and hatred Why aren't we all united? I'm so sick and tired of fighting. Why aren't we all together Lets end this fight forever Why are we still divided? I'm so sick and tired of fighting.

How many tragedies
[How many tragedies]
Will we see before we come together
It's easy to forget
We have the power to make things better

Why are we seperated?
Defined by our greed and hatred
Why aren't we all united?
I'm so sick and tired of fighting.
Why aren't we all together
[Why don't we unite]
Lets end this fight forever
[Let's give up the fight]
Why are we still divided?
[I don't understand]
I'm so sick and tired of fighting

I have a dream
But dreams are not for free
We all need to change
Or just repeat History
If we were one
Well it's easier said then done
We can play a part
Make a brand new start
Come together
Live forever

Listen here: Madonna - "History" (MP3)

UPDATE: Oops. We're told Lourdes had absolutely nothing to do with this song. Sorry Lola! Didn't mean to insult your intelligence.

These aren't the lyrics of a 9 year old. They sound more like the lyrics a 48 year old idiot.

Lourdes is brilliant. I'm scared of what she'll become as a teen.

No huh-way is that Lola's. If she's trying to pass it off as such, shame on that hussy mother.

Much better than anything Bono has written on the last two (horrible) U2 albums. Only by a little bit.
It's easy to analyze the world's problems when you are the spoiled rich nine year old daughter of the biggest female pop singer in History.
But at least the immature idealism can be chalked up to this very factor.
What's Bono's excuse?

Okay. Wait. So Madonna wrote this treacle?
I remard the points back to Bono, begrudgingly.

i love that wesley wants to know bono's "excuse" for his idealism. idealism. a crime. on. stereogum.

it would be awesome if bono and madonna would shut up, and we could just celebrate whiny rockers who hate everything and want to die. that. would. be. so mature.....

^ = pwnd.
this doesn't sound much like a 9year old. i dont know her though, so it's hard to say she's not capable of writing that.

she seems to have a knack for lyrical verse if it is her.

i am often hyperbolic, but i really mean it when i say that this is the single worst song i have ever heard in my entire life.

It's pretty damn catchy. I don't know what kind of lyrics Madonna could write that wouldn't be considered—by lifelong detractors—as too stupid even for DISCO. I mean, "ah-ah, ey-ey...LET'S ALL CHANT" is pretty retarded but was still pretty amazing. So "History" is a bit freetobeyouandme. There are worse things to befreetobe.

Actually, Bono's idealism is fine.
I was objecting to his lyrics, which express his idealism is perfectly inane and childishly simplistic terms.
It's a beautiful day.

Where did this edit come from? All I had heard was that long version.

If Hagdonna wrote it , it would rhyme, well sort of. You know, like off rhymes with Golf.

I happen to enjoy it quite a bit.
Lighten the fuuuck up. You fail to understand that Madonna purposely simplifies her lyrics to an almost childish level. Face to face, none of you would hold a match to her intelligence (did I mention she has a veritable genius IQ?)

It's cute how the 20 year old Hold Steady virgins think insulting Madonna on an indie blog somehow racks them up authenticity points. HAHAHA.

Move on, twerps.
Everyone knows that insulting Madonna is fruitless in the long term. Why don't you pick someone else that needs to be knocked off their pedestal, such as Gwen Stefani. Just wait 'til you hear "Candyland". Pure shit.

The old hag, can't write, can't sing, but she can get a bunch of fag hags to keep buying her music. Maybe they enjoy the same recycled crap that they can disco to until their butt plugs fall out.

Wow, Why all the negativity?? Madge is the Queen we all know that. She may not be the best writer, but judging by the sales of her records, and the recent ticket sales of $197 Million ( the most ever by a female recording artist) of her Confessions tour, she's an incredible entertainer. If you don't like her don't listen, but don't knock her talent, unless of course you've gone from nothing to a $600million fortune and worldwide fame, and have surpassed her accomplishments.

In a random google search to find lyrics to Madonna's latest track I came across these little blog-ettes. So quickly and succinctly it reminds me of the quaint and mean-spiritedness so ubiquitous in society. Isn't it ironic that she is singing about people coming together as one and all most of you are doing is putting someone else down... Hooray for you, such wise people that all you can do is find a dead end blog to quip and whine about the world you haven't yet chosen to inspire or affect... Toodles... I won't be reading the responses

Madonna is no hag, she rocks, that being said this song blows - glad it's hidden away on the b-side of a good song. Those of you talking about recycling; has Bono/U2 come up with anything new in the past 20 years? NO! same sound with new waffle, Madonna does have shite lyrics but she is fucking amazing at creating new sounds even if they are recycled into something new - at least she goes to the trouble to recycle not just putting out the same songs with new words. PS thank you to all you windbag nobodys for entertaining me enough to want to set you all straight. sam.

It's a great "B-side" song and a lot better than any song any of you people slamming her. For you people taking personal shots at Madonna and the song, get a life... she probably could beat you up with one hand tied behind her back- whoops... that's for the S&M board. Sorry.

Speaking of which, 4 you people taking personal shots at Madonna and the song, get a life... she probably could beat you up with one hand tied behind her back- whoops... that's for the S&M board. Sorry.

Of course that's Lourdes. My mother was born on the same exact day as Madonna, I too attended a french school. This is a nine year old who attends a french school. French are not for war. Of corse Lordes has been coached properly to write lyrics. If you knew anything about Madonna you would know lyrics are her obsession. Always have been. Lola did okay. There really not that deep. They are sweet. Why don't enough people know ro educate their children young. Well at least Madonna's got that in the bag. Peace sis'
