Mariah Plays The 9/11 Card

As told to Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung, via Mariah Daily...

With your movie Glitter you reached the low-point of your career. The Glitter album flopped. What went wrong?
MARIAH: Glitter was ahead of its time – today it's 'in' to make 80's music. But the timing was bad - I released it around September 11 2001. The talk shows needed something to distract from 9/11. I became a punching bag. I was so successful that they tore me down because my album was at number 2 instead of number 1. The media was laughing at me and attacked me.
And speaking of terrorism and terrible pop music, thanks to everyone for praying for Omarion's safe return.

So Mariah blames the terrorists for her crap album, whats next? Lauren Hill blaming hurricane Dennis for her crap performance in London last night? Paris Hilton blaming her dog for being a media whore? Avril Lavigne blaming drink for going out with Deryk Whibble from Sum 41. The worlds gone mad I tells thee.

But doesn't Mariah look as if she can put her boobs under her armpits? Anyone else agree

Cheers Gabi,

But if the terrorists released that album and it flopped how the hell can they be so well funded? Hmm the mystery deepens? Although having to listen to Mariah permanantly would couse me to hand over all my worldly goods, maybe they used Glitter as a form of torture to get funding out of rich folk? Anyone else want to add to the Mariah conspiracy chain?

I thought 9/11 was a conspiracy by Jews. I mean, didn't the poet laureate of New Jersey tell us that somehow all the Jews who worked in the World Trade Center didn't come to work that day? That must be totally true.

This is crazy, though, because maybe the conspiracy wasn't designed to draw the U.S. into a global conflict with Islam. Maybe it was to turn "Glitter" into a flop and kill Mariah's career.

Hold on a sec, didn't Tommy Mottola convert to Judaism to marry his first wife? The very same Tommy Mottola who was described as "very, very devilish" by one Michael Jackson? The same Tommy Mottola who Mariah publicly humiliated by releasing an entire album ("Butterfly") about how much of a jerk he was and how awesome it was to be free of him?

We're through the looking glass here, people...

If you don't go out and buy a Mariah album today, then the terrorists have won.

That quotes just behind her comments about starving kids in Africa - something like "I'd like to be skinny like that, except for all the flies and death and stuff."

wait wait wait...I totally sympathize with Mariah. I too released an album within a week of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. People simply were not in a purchasing mood. We invested quite a bit in marketing the album. Placed ads in most of the major markets. Did radio interviews. Even had a story in Vanity Fair. Give Mariah some slack here. By the way check out my band...Osama and the Bin Ladens.

j isherwood's boob comment led me to writing what i've been wondering for the past couple months - isn't mariah simply fat? i don't ever remember her being that hippy or puffy-cheeked. not that she looks bad - i think she looks great - but i'm surprised the tabloids didn't jump all over that. or did they?
also, mariah seems more "Black" to me. everyone around her seems to be African-American; the look seems to be more "black" diva than her past squeaky-clean white pop queen looks. Is Mimi's emancipation going to make a full-fledged African-American R&B diva out of her? She is more Aretha than Barbra.
Yeah we've heard it so much this summer, but isn't WE BELONG TOGETHER just the best? It rocks, whether you like Mariah or not.
GLITTER's problem was it was too ME ME ME. Society/Media is underdog-oriented. GLITTER wasn't great, but not the debaucle of the century. Mariah's problem is that she keeps trying to defend it. Let it die, girl!
But, she's right. Around Sept 11, no one wanted to see Little Miss Superstar and her me me me movie vehicle and album and promotional tour blah blah blah.
She needs me to be her publicist.

A. The movie had no plot
B. He acting resembles a fork
C. Her sisters a prostitute

Enough said!!

"Fork" you, Jason...It's not Mariah's fault her sister is a hooker. And "Easy P" keep your liberal shithead Bush-bashing on Michael Moore's chatboard where it belongs. As for YOU, Mariah your career is back on track with "The Emancipation...". "Glitter' was 4 damn years ago, Mariah...grow up, accept that you occasionally fuck up just like the rest of us do, and just move on with your life and career. Don't waste time trying to justify events that don't deserve justification.
