Marilyn Manson Talks Eat Me, Drink Me

Last we checked in with the Antichrist Superstar, he was parting ways with burlesque babe Dita Von Teese, for reasons then unknown. Since, Manson's announced his plan to release Eat Me, Drink Me, and the latest Rolling Stone features an interview about the record with Marilyn's old friend Austin Scaggs, which has the goth singer wallowing in self-pity and describing a song as "a romantic-misogynistic-cannibal-gothic-vampire ballad." Bust out yer black, the kid is back! Austin explored the inspiration for the record:

The songs, [Manson] says, "are clearly written to seduce somebody," though he is hesitant to divulge whom.
People is not so hesitant. Marilyn goes on about the act that precipitated this special someone's impact.
Manson says he was finally uplifted by a close friend's morbid gesture of devotion. "She picked up a butcher's knife and said, 'Here, you can stab me,'" he says. "When someone was willing to drown with me, I really didn't want to drown anymore." This theme is depicted in the six-minute epic "If I Was Your Vampire," which Manson wrote on Christmas. "That song is the new 'Bela Lugosi's Dead,'" says Manson. "It's the all-time gothic anthem."
So there you have it, Bauhaus fans. A new goth standard to replace your beloved, inspired by a starlet's blade-brandishing gesture of love. Isn't it romantic?

There's something about him that's interesting and cool...but it's not his image or music. That girl's smokin hot though!

When a device is invented that allows me to punch Marilyn Manson in the the throat through my computer, I will pay top dollar. Top. Dollar.

Please contact me directly if you are interested in developing this device, but need to secure funding.

Yeah, it might be cliched schtick to say Manson is sooo early 90s, but sho'nuff. Eat Me, Drink Me? More anti-religious boogersnot? A whole career, and this is the best he can do?

At least the lambasted "Mechanical Animals" tried. Funkyface Warner needs to stop already and try a new idea to death, or get a job at a county fair spook show. Either way is good.

Or watched the Disney DVD version with his new girlfriend.

Nah. It's more of the 'body of Antichrist, blood of Antichrist' variety than Mad Hatters and March Hares. THAT would have been interesting and, therefore, a foreign concept to old Brian. But his girlfriend might dig it, provided she's had her first holy communion yet and gets the gaffe.

Originally I thought Manson was retarded cause of the whole image thing. Never had gotten into the music but I never really tried. Then one day, in hope of finding something new I gave all the albums a good listen. I liked Mechanical Animals, Holywood, and Golden Age of Grotesque so much I went out and bought them. The guy can clearly make good music and if you don't think it's good that's simply your opinion. Fact is he still has three platinum albums and sells out with his shows. That says that there are many that like his music. Go ahead and hate him, that's exactly what he wants you to do! Bad press and negativity = more press and more sales, believe it or not.

I have been trying to find more information of the new Marilyn Manson album, EAT ME, DRINK ME. (due sometime in June 2007) and I came across the name Sean Beavan, who will be mixing the new Manson album. Sean has worked on other Manson projects including the 1996 Antichrist Superstar album as well as the 1998 Mechanical’s Animals album. He also worked with Trent Renzor (NIN) and help forged the sound of NIN as well as No Doubt and Kill Hannah. With the tremendous success of all these albums Sean has worked on, I am looking forward to see what he has done with Manson’s new album – looking to be an amazing album collaboration.

An interesting note about Sean Beavan is he actually has his own band, 8MM with his wife Juliette and her distinctive and seductive voice makes 8MM a definite band to watch in ’07.

Check out the hypnotic sound of 8MM on their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/8mm or at their official site, www.8mmaudio.com and their cell phone video for Stunning on YouTube and Yahoo! Music that has received so much attention. They have an amazing trip-hop, downtempo sound that is definitely worth checking out.

I can see why Marilyn Manson called upon Sean once again to create what is looking to be another amazing Manson album in 2007.

Actually it IS about Alice in Wonderland, with the eucharist reference just being a kind of side joke. I can let you off not knowing, as you most of you appear not to be the slightest bit interested in the guys work, but he's spent the last two years working on films based on the life of Lewis Carrol, so the chances of references to that throughout the album are pretty high.

Hopefully this'll be good, the last two NIN albums have proven that poor old Trent Reznor needs putting out to pasture, it's now down to Manson and Rob Zombie to keep the nineties post-industrial flag flying.

And btw, Bauhaus suck. They have like, two semi-good songs and a whole lot of garbage. Get over it.

DwD: clearly you're illiterate. alice in wonderland.
go ahead and talk shit and hate him. it only makes him bigger. he still sells out all his shows, and each album still debuts higher than acts like kelly clarkson, and 50cent. face it: he's got bigger balls than you and he's here to stay. how is he ripping off oghr? the golden age was close, but thats because of tim skold(former member of oghr) is part of manson now.

No no, the whole eat me drink me thing has everything to do with alice in Wonderland, more so than some sort of last-supper-antichrist-crap. He's directing a movie on the side, which has some bizarre and really long name that I cannt remember BUT! It's about the visions of Lewis Carol, Alice and such. Personally I'm looking forward to the new album. Love him or hate him, you've got to admit, hes one hell of a showman.

Dont listen to him. i know. his music will brain wash you. i finally have a hold of my life now, but i heard his new song on the radio yesterday, and it almost made me relaps, like a drug. i can never go back to the way i was before.

To Darcy:

Get a life, or better yet succeed in taking yours (4th time's the charm?) and let your family cry at your funeral, giving you pity you don't deserve.

Manson made you want to kill your parents, he ruined your life? Grow up and take some responsibility for yourself you fucking child. I've never heard anything in any of his songs -- or interviews, or anywhere else -- where he told people to kill their parents.

That was all you; you've obviously got some issues and are using Mr. Warner as a scapegoat. You are a feeble-minded follower. You did all that stuff back then because you thought it was what Manson wanted you to do (maybe you should have listened more to his music and less to the anti-Manson propaganda coming from people like Pat Robertson).

You thought he wanted you to kill other people and yourself, but what you didn't know then -- and still don't, evidently -- is that he would have simply laughed at you for being such a prime example of human idiocy.

I'm not going to speculate about whether or not you've found Jesus (and you say Manson brainwashed you?), but I will spend the next few hours hoping you do in fact 'relapse' and remove yourself from our gene pool.

So, i can admit that i own every single Manson cd. I will not by eat me drink me. I only buy albums that i enjoy. And his new cd is the fuel to become a better guitar player. Manson If some how you read this post!! I will play guitar for your band! I don't want any money!!! I will do it for Free!! You are missing music in the back ground. It sounds like you had a f!ing 9 year old play guitar for you on this cd! I love your voice makes me wet at night. But for GOD and God alone prove that your a smart man. and enclose yourself with a group of talented musicians. its only gonna help! you can have the song about sleeping with dead babies for all i care. but let someone who can play guitar do your guitar work. Not some dude who sucks your a$$ to be your friend! I love you manson. Tim Skold should burn in hell!.. my opinon!

Tim Skold is an **** ****. Bring back John 5 that's when the band was at it's best. M.W.Gacy, John 5, Ginger Fish, Twiggy Ramierez and of course Mr Manson.
Marilyn Manson used to based around the guitar playing quite alot but now he's got some wannabe! Pity. BRING BACK JOHN 5!!!!!!
Oh yer and for all you people that like to go on about how Manson is going nowhere and his career sucks. Why are you even looking at Manson stuff if you're just gonna bad mouth it. Anybody can do that you have to appreciate stuff.
And i'd love to see how far you'd get if you started writing songs.

The new album isn't the same old religion-bashing, so here's a high middle finger to the ignorant poster who suggested so.

Also, NIN is as good as ever. If not better. One of the few bands that hasn't sold out. If it's up to Rob Zombie to "fly that flag," we're ****ed. He never flew it to begin with. No-talent.

The new Manson album is nothing like before. Manson said himself it was put together rather quickly. It's got guitar solos and everything (a rarity for Manson). I'll be interested to see how it's received. Personally, I like it but I'm not crazy for it. It has a few good songs but nothing I'm going to keep in my CD player for any extended amount of time.

I am listening to Eat Me, Drink Me for the first time right thins minute. I'm about half way through it (track 5 is playing) and I have to say that I'm not that impressed so far. It's too early to judge but I have been hoping for at least a couple tracks that can go on my Essential Manson play list. Over the years he has written some great tunes that have come to mean a lot to me. The Beautiful People. Lunchbox. The New Shit. The Dope Show. And a few others. There just seems to be something missing here on this new LP. Don't get me wrong, I love Manson. This album just feels really lukewarm so far.

I am one who listens to many genres of music and after hearing his "Rock is Dead" song at the end of the Matrix movie when I was eight years old I was hooked on his sound. I have Eat me Drink me. I have to say its kinda...lacking. He's done better. Every song has a different message and in terms of lyrical content its somewhere original, however. I don't listen to this type of music for the lyrics. It takes you to bad places. The band in this album is just really lacking. The music. That's what counts and that's what I can't find in it. If I was Your Vampire and You Me and the devil are the only ones that do anything for me. His vocals are saying different things, but they don't sound like different things. It's the same drawl. One can only endure so much. If you are reading this I suggest you find more notes to hit...better vocals and that you look into that dank soul of yours and find the fire of youth. C'MON! MAN I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!

So it looks like everyone who has heard the new album is kind of sort of in agreement that it is a disappointing effort. I really feel like it is the product of a mental mindset that says, "Here I am at work. Four more hours until my shift is over. I guess I can keep faking it until the bell rings." It sucks that he can't pull one out of a hat and make it work. Not a single kick ass track. Sad....

Manson has NOTHING to do with Goth rock and he knows it! He does not represent Goth rock and his dull single "If I (WERE) Your Vampire" is not a Goth Rock anthem.

Fuck him. First he uses the Goth image to sell his shock rock band, and then he claims that his music is Goth? Even if he tries to IMPLY such as thing, he should go back to Goth 101 and listen to fucking Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, March Violets, and others to get the fucking idea through his skull that he is a walking cliche, he is NOT Goth, and his new single is a pretentious pile of dog shit!
