The news of Blink-182's split hit us like a wet towel in a middle school locker room. OK, not really. We never cared about Blink-182. But the silly punk-pop trio has PLENTY of fans, and some of the reactions at blink182.com are too funny to ignore. Here's one:

im so upset that this time off could lead to the break up , ive been crying and listening to your cd's since the new came to me . moral of the story: you head on over to kroq.com, you listen to an interview with travis, and then you know that it's a break- not a breakup. he basically says it's a normal break that bands do after touring too much and want to spend time with their families. this time they decided to make a press release that wound up getting misconstrued.
travis has the transplants. tom loves directing. mark loves producing. and they all love their kids. end.

I think what we're all overlooking here is the atrocious spelling and grammer from these people. How many times can they use "there" when they mean "they're" or "their"?
And I don't think it's funny to joke about hearth transplants. My hearth had to be replaced by skilled masons just last fall; without their help, my fireplace could have crumbled into bits. Please be more sensitive to the feelings of the less interior-designed-able.

DaysofYore -- I listened to crap when I was 13, yes. I was a huge New Kids on the Block fan. It was a faze, I grew out of it and by the time they broke up I could care less. It took about three years. This band has been around much longer than that and you're telling me that after years and years of juvenile music about running around naked, kids haven't grown out of that?

Jenny - it all depends on how long the kids followed them for. If they were just getting into Blink, then they might've missed out on that whole running around naked stage of their career and just come in for the "giving up all semblance of the pretty rockin band we started out as". A brief thought: Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch were damn good records. Yeah it wasnt dead serious lyrics but not every band can write lyrics to carry the weight of the world on. It was a style that worked well for what they did. I think I lost my original point in all this. It should be like something like "they can't help it if the band breaks up before they get a chance to realize they are shitty" . Sometimes that comes with time. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.
