Blur Are Back On Texting Terms, Set To Reunite

Has every band that ever broke up or opted to go on "hiatus" decided to get back into the ring? Even Led Zep appear to be getting in the act. (And we await silently Fugazi's return.) Well, as if Damon Albarn and his cheeky cohorts weren't busy enough, looks like Blur went and caught themselves a case of reunion fever! Yessir, Damon, Alex, Graham, and David (ah, first-name basis) are gonna dive deep into those Brit pop waters, recording as a quartet for the first time since 2002.

As Alex James explained to NME.COM regarding the upcoming recording sessions (which will reportedly go down in October):

It's going to happen soon ... It's looking promising .... It's important for us emotionally not to leave Blur as an unfinished thing. It could be good musically as well.

I texted Graham this morning and got one back ... I saw Damon (Albarn) about a month ago and I spoke to Dave yesterday. We're all talking.

The inner-band love 'n' texting's sweet, but will the sounds be any good? Alex? "Good guitars would be good. But I mainly talk to Graham about mandolins and prog music."

As we get our heads around that step toward the Rush realm and good ol' mandolins, why not head over to the band's official site and take a peek at Alex's diary. Wonder if any of this this inspires Moz to take the plunge. For $76M, maybe?

Yeah, you are trying to hard here Stereogum. They never actually broke up, it's only been 4 years since their last album, and just under 4 years since their last concert. That's hardly catching "reunion-fever", at least not anything worthy of Led Zep comparisons.

Will the next Radiohead record also be considered a reunion then?

Graham Coxon left before their last album so in that sense it is a reunion.

I think the fact that Graham left the band and is now possibly back is enough to consider it a reunion.

Um - the past Blur album was more like a Damon solo shot. You wouldn't call it a Smiths reunion without Johnny Marr, and its not Blur without Graham.

I hope they tour so I can fulfill my fantasy of banging Damon in a tourbus bathroom. HOT!

... yeah, i just don't think it's fair to put them in the "reunion craze" box with the Police, Led Zep etc.

hmm... I actually thought Think Tank was their best album...

and Graham actually was on a couple of those tracks

I think that people really over-valued his presence

THINK TANK was a brilliant album and still felt like Blur (as opposed to Damon's solo projects), but am def happy Graham is back. About time.

I name myself "goldend" after one of Graham's albums, needless to say I love his solo efforts but I will love to have the chance to hear the boys again

What's up with these Britpop bands popping out of the woodwork? First the Verve, now Blur, hopefully the Stone Roses are next!

Praise the lord! big deal if they broke up for four years they still broke up right. I really really love blur, Damon's a genius, but think tank wasn't very good. But i am so glad they are back

actually, Graham Coxon has been talking about it all year, so it's a safe bet they'll be doing it. And really, did anyone think they 'broke up'? Coxon got pissed because of Cook's production, so he walked out of the studio, got sober, did his own stuff for a bit, and now they're ready to act like a band again. Nothing *that* dramatic...
