I'm sorry, did you say the name of the video was "Wash Out"? Sounds about right...

why, oh why, must we navigate through all these poorly designed radio station websites in order to hear these chris cornell songs? can't the songs just, like, not exist instead?

Chris has stayed true to Soundgarden fans, still playing songs like Slaves and Bulldozers on tour. I imagine he'll continue to do so. Yeah, this is new and different, but he's still playing grunge, just not recording it. His last few sets have been 40-50% 'grunge,' look at http://www.chriscornell.org.uk/tour.htm for proof. 6 out of 12 songs played in Pittsburgh last week were Soungdarden/TOTD.

Maybe when we get full tracks from the new album, not these 30 second blips, maybe fans will be more apt meet him half way.

Who cares about this.

The real question is when are you going to post juicy details about Skeletal Lamping? C'moooooon, is it good? As good as Hissing Fauna? Is it funky? catchy? What!?

I agree with Evan...but more to the point of...why aren't you posting anything this afternoon..yet? Especially any mention of the Grizzly Bear Letterman performance...don't let me down, Gum...I've started to take pride in the fact you are quicker on the draw with timely posts than P4K!

Come On- CC rode a Seattle wave on rock star looks and mediocre talent- this is exactly what he should be doing POP. As this is what he has been all about- If provided the right songs- he could entertain the ladies in Vegas and Branson- no problem- Move on Stereogum- Your pointing out the obvious. Slow news day?

Chris Cornell has managed to keep his career and fanbase interested for over 20 years now because he was a what - a one-hit-wonder who was only good at one style of music?? I think someone (more like a lot of someones) has it a little backwards...It's exactly BECAUSE Cornell isn't afraid to take his music in new directions that he continues to be a fresh, creative force in music today. I happen to like the new sound - and I'll probably LOVE it when we actually get the real deal, instead of these little sound bytes!!! I'm excited about Chris's new CD!!!

Its obvious that a lot of people had their minds made up before even hearing the song clips. Chris Cornell has never been scared to take risks musically and I think he's going to continue to do that for a long time. I completely expect the album after this one to be totally different. After hearing the clips online and hearing Long Gone and Watch Out live a couple weeks ago, I am really excited to hear the entire album. His talent is incredibly diverse and I think he knows that by making one album, he's not locked into one way of making music for the rest of his career.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
