Chris has stayed true to Soundgarden fans, still playing songs like Slaves and Bulldozers on tour. I imagine he'll continue to do so. Yeah, this is new and different, but he's still playing grunge, just not recording it. His last few sets have been 40-50% 'grunge,' look at http://www.chriscornell.org.uk/tour.htm for proof. 6 out of 12 songs played in Pittsburgh last week were Soungdarden/TOTD.

Come On- CC rode a Seattle wave on rock star looks and mediocre talent- this is exactly what he should be doing POP. Chris Cornell has managed to keep his career and fanbase interested for over 20 years now because he was a what - a one-hit-wonder who was only good at one style of music?? I think someone (more like a lot of someones) has it a little backwards...It's exactly BECAUSE Cornell isn't afraid to take his music in new directions that he continues to be a fresh, creative force in music today. I happen to like the new sound - and I'll probably LOVE it when we actually get the real deal, instead of these little sound bytes!!! I'm excited about Chris's new CD!!!

Its obvious that a lot of people had their minds made up before even hearing the song clips. Chris Cornell has never been scared to take risks musically and I think he's going to continue to do that for a long time. I completely expect the album after this one to be totally different. After hearing the clips online and hearing Long Gone and Watch Out live a couple weeks ago, I am really excited to hear the entire album. His talent is incredibly diverse and I think he knows that by making one album, he's not locked into one way of making music for the rest of his career.
