omg, so good.

third row became first row after i pushed my way around. he tore off his shirt after the encore and madness!!! bout a dozen people clawing at it, each getting little tiny parts. setlist left a little to be desired but who cares, it's moz! very chatty last night as well.

The show was great, good to see Moz still has that magic touch. Only one person that I saw managed to get up on stage to hug him, the flowers not nearly as plentiful in the past. Maybe I'm old but seeing him the early 90's was much better for me. I do appreciate that he plays Smiths songs though.

I say you ignore that camphone rule. Just hid it somewhere. Someone tried to nail me for taking photographs at the Apple Store last night, which was wrong wrong wrong. You must bring your cameras to share the Moz love.

the show was awesome. i had a wonderful time, and though the security sucked and the bag-check bullshit REALLY sucked, i thought the apollo was the perfect venue for him. he sounded amazing, looked quite good (you can clearly tell that he's getting up there, but he looked good onstage--tricks of makeup, maybe?). he seemed to be in a happy, jovial mood, and he totally ate up the crowd's enthusiasm. he played about half new stuff and half old stuff.

also, i saw cute melissa (is that her name? i can't recall!) from 'the real world' there. the same one i saw at rififi a couple months ago. eliza knows who i'm talking about--the girl who used to be small and bleached-blond but who is now super-tall, skinny, and modelesque with light brown hair.

OHHHH and the best part of the show was when moz RIPPED OFF HIS SHIRT at the end! it ruled! he did it and then literally ran off the stage before anyone could get a good look. it was so cute. he was a bit flabby, which is why he ran off the stage, i guess. but it was adorable, the weird mix of macho/"check me out" / "i want to appease my young hip adoring fans and do things like i used to do back in my young hot heyday"/ with the shy, "i'm afraid i look like crap and i don't want to be made fun of so i must get the fuck off the stage right now." I LOVED IT.

As for the taking off the shirt, I loved it too. However the best part was how people were still fighting over it for a good 10 minutes afterwards.

Not to take this post in a whole nother direction and drag it on, but yes Rachel has gotten so cute it's scary. I saw her at a showcase once and seriously could not help but be a little jealous of the cuteness! She definitely seems to have come into her own.

Hey Matt, no laughing from me. I did just what you did back in 91 at MSG. I found myself in a 6 way struggle for his shirt in the middle of the show while trying to not die from all of us pressed up against the stage (at that time they let people run up front with no or little barricade). Eventually after realizing no ONE person was going home with the shirt, my friend pulled out her swiss army knife and in the madness, chopped us all pieces. I still have it in my frame with Morrissey's picture. Ah, to be 16 again.

CHECK THE PHONE. the kid in front of me took a pic with the phone immediately after moz came out on stage and was totally kicked out the entire show. check it check it check it. or just hide it and don't use it. they pat you down though so i don't know where you'd hide it...unless you hid it in your crotch.

2 things: 1. If anyone deserves a piece of Moz' clothing, it's me...Back at roseland in '92 on the Your Arsenal tour I actually got on stage at the end of alsatian cousin, only to somehow lose my left brand new Doc Marten because in the mosh pit the laces had totally come loose and after I hugged morrissey and security tackled me, the shoe somehow popped off. As I was being "escorted" off stage, morrissey picked up my shoe AND THREW IT BEHIND THE DRUM KIT. good bye shoe.

2. I find it hilarious in a good way how all the fans on this site seem to be 26-32 (I'm 28) with our special moz memories from those intense years of the early 90's when his solo career was big but he stubbornly (and I believe legally) refused to play smiths songs. rock on.

very good memory- he also played limelight. Those three shows were in november...i remember the roseland show being the wednesday before thanksgiving. he had also played the paramount theatre at MSG two months before in september, and it was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

have you seen my shoe anywhere?

Yes!!! I was at the Paramount too, I rarely ever missed Moz when he came to town. I missed the Jones Beach show, the Limelight and the Hammerstein. What I found so strange was the year he played Summer Stage in Central Park, it was so easy to get tickets and people just didn't seem too into it, same with when he played Beacon last. I think he's had a great resurgence.
