Beyoncé Vs. Fleet Foxes

thubmnail icon: Beyoncé Vs. Fleet Foxes

You can't escape "Single Ladies." No matter what your bookmarks tell you, Fleet Foxes aren't quite as ubiquitous, though they certainly rule the land of indie-rock year end lists. We recently heard Beyoncé get mashed with Tom Petty for "If I Were A Free Fallin' Boy." Here the Hood Internet smashes "Single Ladies" with "Ragged Wood" to create "Single Foxes (Put A Wood On It)." That's some innuendo, Hood Internet. As far as the results: There are moments of interesting synchronicity and times you want Robin & Co. to stop harmonizing so the lady can get her groove without those downers mucking up the leotard dance.

The Hood Internet - "Single Foxes (Put A Wood On It)" (MP3)

Why did you post this Stereogum? Why should I care about a random remix that's not even good? Why am I so mad that everytime I go on your site now it seems your posts are more are more irrelevant. So many questions....

I have given this serious consideration over the last couple hours... sarahspy, will you have my baby?

Think about it –

A little about me – I'm tall, employed graphic designer, I like music and I like asking strangers to have my baby.

So whaddya think?

I don't want Sarahspy to have my baby, I just want to caress her hair, spoon feed her peach sorbet and softly sing her Bjork's "Unravel" in a candlelit room.

You don't have give birth to my baby! – You just have to take the one I have off my hands. Babies are stupid non-contributors with shitty taste in music. The little guy isn't even capable of getting me a beer... yet. My baby is still up for grabs if you are interested?

This technically "works" but it really doesn't work at all.

Greatly displeasing to listen to.

Their name is a grammatical error - shouldn't it be Fleet OF Foxes?

Fleet also means quick/light of foot.

Finally Fleet Foxes has an original element to their music...Beyonce.

Someone should do a mash-up of Fleet Foxes with My Morning Jacket. That would be hilarious, and probably produce a lawsuit.

so apparently you haven't heard any My Morning Jacket ever then, guy.

I'm sorry, but this is just awful, love the first two mysplice but 3.0 was subpar in my opinion and seemed a little forced. I don't fault effort, but the pinnacle of Team9 was the Smokey/Arcade/Gunsmoke mix, that was hot, this...not so much.

Stereogum definitely has the highest proportion of bitchy commenters on the internet (of course most will take that as a compliment, which it is not).

This song is amusing.

(PS: Fleet = adjective here, not noun)

Well... Fleet Foxes are always nice but Beyonce has never done a song that wasn't horribly insipid and this is no exception. It ruins the pretty music. There are better Hood Internet songs guys.

Well, it looks like the best Hood Internet song (R. Kelly / Broken Social Scene - "I'm A Flirt (Shoreline)") keeps its title.

Actually, that might be the best song ever made.

Hood Internet posted it under their "Year in Rejects" series because they knew it was shit. That's why it's not as good as DoE/Britney, R Kelly/BSS, whatever/whatever. Listen for 10 seconds, then delete. Don't get your panties in a bind.

i really wanted this to work, but it just doesn't. it feels like they took everything i both love and loathe about these two songs, mixed them together, and then forced them on me like when daniel day lewis puts his son's deafness medicine (uh? no.) in the milk and makes him drink it in "there will be blood".

I'm sorry but I actually kind of enjoyed this one...it was about the only way I could get through hearing Beyoncé sing. Let's not take this too seriously...if you don't like it, don't put a ring on it.
