Old Kentucky delivers this Green cover from Editors' upcoming "Blood"...

Editors - "Orange Crush" (MP3 Link Expired)

Not bad. Let's see if they can handle Talking Heads.

The first 37 seconds should be chopped off. The rest is just a pointless cover.

Thought the Stereogummers might be interested in this shirt.

I always wanted to hear what that song would sound like if it was emotionless and machine-like.

I stil wanna know why REM made a song about a soda. Just kidding.

Speaking of REM, any real REM freaks out there? A friend of mine at one point in his life had a double live REM CD, bootleg type CD, with a version of "I believe" that Stipe led into with the first verse of "Future 40s (String of Pearls)" from Syd Straw. Anybody have that electonically. If so, please email me. I'd kill - or at least mame, particularly Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, that type - to get my hands on it.

Whigsboy: I'm about 90% sure that Stipe also did the "String of Pearls" intro for the version of "I Believe" on Tourfilm. I've never gotten around to replacing my VHS copy with a DVD, so I can't help, but hopefully you can find it for purchase and/or ripping a friend's copy.

Tourfilm has a few other cool segues like that; a bit of Gang Of Four's "We Live As We Dream, Alone" goes before "World Leader Pretend", etc.

That cover's a bit of a yawner, but if they ever do "Pretty Persuasion" - I'm so there!

The cover is boring, but then again, so is the original song.

The cover isn't too bad indeed. But it's just a simple & plain repetition, it doesn't add nothing new to the song...

Never pictured the Editors as a band who would cover REM

I know that Orange Crush isn't one of REM's better songs, but it has a certain nostalgia value for me. Used to listen to Green on cassette constantly back in high school.

And the cover... for better or worse, it's pretty much exactly like the original. I reckon Editors have proven that -- if all else fails -- they can make a living as a highly competent REM tribute act. They could call themselves Life Rich and the Pagents. Or The Murmurers.

Poor choice of talking heads song, it's a great track but not exactly typical of them. something like life during wartime (that hasn't been covered to death like psycho killer but's still textbook talking heads)

you're not the only one sean - i liked it too!

okay, so the original wasn't the most inspiring song ever, and this version won't blow the world away, but it suits editors style.

cheers for putting it up!

that editors cover is, how to say this... not good. at all. bad, in fact. i kind of laughed the whole way through. it's like: why is he so serious about his soda? i don't know.

Well Issy, that's two of us at least.

I say if Ultragrrrl can say MCR are the new Nirvana, then I can enjoy the Editors covering REM.
