Free Futbol Jamz

As we made painfully clear during World Cup season, we know little of this soccer, and our news updates on the sport's attempt to woo the USofA revolve around the snore-worthy exploits of Posh and Becks. MLS is on it, though, knowing that the best way to kids' hearts is through their iPods. So the US soccer organization has teamed up with Adidas to curate a spread of theme songs for each of the league's teams, getting hometown bands to whip up some fight music. The list includes the Rapture ("Go New York!" to the tune of "Woo!..."), RJD2, Bad Brains, and the Polyphonic Spree (reprezenting Dallas, of course).

The Polyphonic Spree - "HOOPS Yes! (FC Dallas) (MP3)

"Where in the world do you think you can go/there's no hiding from this Dallas, Texas babe." Them's fighting words, sorta ... but Bad Brains' "D!C!" screams are bona fide pee your jock strap material. We'd bet on the United. Grab 'em all at Adidas.com, MLS theme song tracklist below. (Via P4K)

Akwid - "¡Chivas Explosivas!" (Chivas USA)
Bad Brains - "D.C. United" (D.C. United)
Barenaked Ladies - "TFC" (Toronto FC)
Blackpool Lights - "Ain't Nobody Gonna Stop Us Now" (Kansas City Wizards)
Damone - "Revolution" (New England Revolution)
Mike Jones - "Houston Dynamo (Don't Play)" (Houston Dynamo)
Kinky - "We Are the Galaxy" (L.A. Galaxy)
Meg & Dia - "The Mighty R-E-A-L" (Real Salt Lake)
OK Go - "Here Comes the Fire" (Chicago Fire)
The Polyphonic Spree - "HOOPS Yes!" (FC Dallas)
The Rapture - "Whoo! Alright, Yeah ... Uh Huh" (New York Red Bulls)
RJD2 - "It's Your Crew" (Columbus Crew)
Rose Hill Drive - "Goal!" (Colorado Rapids)

Did anyone tell the Polyphonic Spree that this is for a soccer team rather than basketball? I am pretty ignorant of soccer, but I've never heard of it being connected with the word "hoops."

Hey, whatever they have to do to get people in the stands like they did on Saturday in NY; 66K showed up to see NY take LA 5-4. Becks bent it but didn't win it.

Oh, and DC United is the devil and Jozy Altidore is the truth!

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
