Justice Leaks Rejected Fabric Mix

News broke last fall that the folks at Fabric asked Justice to put together a Fabriclive mix. And that it's since been rejected. The gents of Justice expressed their de Rosnay dismay, and shortly thereafter a rumored tracklist started circulating the web. While we half expected Adam from Madison to drop us an email loaded with zip links, it didn't even have to get that far. Xavier told to Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen, "Maybe we'll put the mix out ourselves." And that they did, in the form of a free holiday treat entitled Justice Xmas Mix.

Justice Xmas Mix

The duo told Blender in October:

"We love all the music that we put into [our Fabric mix]. I guess a lot of people will hate it. If you look at the tracklist for the first time, it can look like the worst tracklist ever. Especially for French people."

What a bunch of fags these guys are. I can't believe they think they can play MSG. It's just going to result in a bunch of hipsters sitting around with their arms crossed smoking fags and downing crunk juice. sigh.

this entire hipster ed slanger-banger-aoki bullshit dance scene is fueled by shitass capital from daddy bennihana. its soulless empty cartridges of nothingness. its all neon tee's and zero art substance. there's no art at all. warhol was the last bastian of hope. sorry kiddos, cobrasnake-oil is a farce and a hack. take your overpriced leica down the street to overhyped avenue. it's officially over like grunge. the overtly-80,90's fashion is a joke kid. wet seal,merry-go-round, and GHQ are on the verge of bankruptcy and the montebello mall is the next incarnation of blade runner hipsterism. done. period. over. american apparel is lame-oid. over. find another venue to ape your wares. cinespace=dead.

Echo Mountain:

Warhol was the last bastion of hope for art? I think you need to work your head out of your ass and get a little more involved in contemporary art. Nigo, Urban Outfitters, Levis, Medicom, and whoever else is waxing poetic about Warhol right now because he's the "in" thing, they don't make him some art god. I suggest you take a look at his entire, extensive body of work and and tell me how amazing he is.

Not to mention that his entire aesthetic and glorification of consumerism completely spits in the face of your argument that ed banger's shtick lacks any artistic merit and is all overhyped, overpriced smoke and mirrors.

To some extent I agree that charging $60 for a Justice branded Revolver t-shirt over on Wesoldout and Colette is blatant hubris, and that the associated "fashions" are toxic, but come on, you can't just walk around spouting pseudo-intellectual bullshit about what's "art," throw in some haphazard Andy/label references, and expect to be taken seriously by anybody with a brain.

I think they can all thank Daft Punk for bringing House back to masses.

I agree that its all style and lack artistic integrity but I think that's exactly what they want. There is no artistry anymore because of commercialization - its not the artist's fault.

Fads will come and go, so it'll be interesting to see if Justice sticks it out.

If music sounds dope, it's dope. If you don't get off on it, and need some pseudointellectual bullshit to keep yourself interested, that's cool for you.

Are Grizzly Bear any more philosophically deep than Justice? Check out their lyrics... It's closer than you think... "Chin up, cheer up, chin up, cheer up"? "Colorado"?

It's just music. It sounds dope, it's dope. Don't hate.

ignoring the homophobic haters (seriously? are you fucking 12? does your momma even like you?), this would have made a fine addition to the Fabric series, and i'm kinda shocked there was even a question as to whether they should release it. If it truly is for the brevity of the mix, i'd rather pay for a fun, imaginative 45-minute mix than someone who just wants to fill a damn cd. people need to learn (especially with mixes) it's quality, not quantity. we now return you to your regularly scheduled parade of bitter assholes who like to pretend that their inane complaining can overcompensate for their itty-bitty penises.

justice is changing the music scene, and with it, what's culturally relevant (regardless of their intentions) so what the fuck does anyone care if your greenwich village asses have heard this stuff since early '06 and are so bitter you can't beat off over your secret mp3 collections anymore.

to KT: I read that Fabric didn't release the max because it would cost too much to license all the tracks. anybody else know anything about that?

You guys are all retarded. Charging $60 for limited edition shirts just keeps them out of Hot Topic and mall shops. D.A.N.C.E. isn't the best song on †, but it's everywhere due to the fact that its far more accessible to mainstream radio audiences than Waters of Nazareth or Phantom. They want to sell CDs, just like you would. Putting Genesis on a car ad is hardly selling out, its more of an prelude than a song. Daft Punk did a GAP ad and I bet you still rocked out to their live set.

nice comments guys ,im just gutted they didnt include mpeoples "movin on up " , i guess they were "trying to break a leg" ,the mix is interesting but maybe if it was a bit more crazy i would like it more, and isn't "fabric" called "fabric" which is like clothing which is all about style, but that also means that its possible to cramp fabrics style, or their bank account, cause fashion costs allot even if its really gawdy

I am french, and I do think this is an odd mix yet I really like it. I adore the fact they had the courage to add Julien Clerc in it. That track is awesome (though you may not agree if you arent french). A couple of weak tracks but overall a very good mix. I enjoyed it and shall listen it for the next little.

p.s: By the way. I never read so much non-sense on blog before. I mean... Wow.

i'm gonna have to agree with brad. if there's one more song on the mainstream radio (not that i listen to it) that would make you want to D.A.N.C.E. instead of beat somebody up, buy a gun, slap a girl's ass or whatever, then let's do it.

It really is just pop music, and pop was meant to have fun with and get stuck in your head so you'll buy the album. i dont really understand all the bitterness. whatever happened to live and let live? don't like em? dont like the "culture"? cool! say it in a way that DOESNT make it sound like you're a douche-b.

Hey, see them live, Its a totally amazing experience (although I did also see them at a festival where atmosphere was lacking). But on a sound system where they can turn up the volume, i.e a club set, they are truley amazing. The music has a physical affect and pressence. I wouldn't listen to them in a normal setting, I Only listen to my Justice CD at partys. If you like them them then keep enjoying yourself and if you don't then don't listen, its not for you.

agreed. This is the grumpiest comment box ever. It's all "HIPSTER FAD NO ARTISTIC INTEGRITY" and "REVOLUTIONARY WORLD CHANGING" and "STFU FAGS". Christ sakes....it's a mix. By an electro house band. It didn't rape your mother or buy you an Aston Martin. People here are acting as if you can't avoid hearing Justice every second on the radio or escape them on TV. Believe me, they are only "mainstream" to bloggers, faddish hipsters and self-designated faux-intellectual indie critics.

Hey guys, don't take this seriously... this mix was made just for fun!!
And regarding Justice style of music I would never say it's dead... it's the future. The way they dress I don't care, but they way they make music has started to change the whole scenario.

New musicians and future rockstars are kids born during the eighties that have played a lot nintendos and videogames while listening to all kinds of music including michael jackson, nirvana or jeff mills. >This means we will start listening to chiptune music and rock-punk-electro touches in future new hits. These people will also be successful producers, and will start producing albums for the old folks (madonna, kylie, red hot chili peppers, ...).

I bet in 5 years the mainstream channels will sound much more "justice-a-like".

If you do not believe me take a dive in the bands that are rising on Myspace or Youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

elitists bitching about elitists. The mix is diverse, excellent pace and is above all FUN! God forbid we consider that: fun. Isn't that one of the main reasons we all enjoy music in the first place? Or has that passion been substituted by self-righteous musicology, bull shit rantings about "selling out" and more expert ways of massaging your own ego. Relax, you don't know music like you think you do. There's more out there than whats in your record player. Its ok. The era of the "too cool" shit is over. This stuff is great.
