Martyn Remixes Fever Ray

thubmnail icon: Martyn Remixes Fever Ray

A little over a week ago we pointed you in the direction of Crookers' amped (and Italian) remix of Fever Ray's "Seven." It was from the forthcoming "Seven" single, which also features remixes by CSS, Marcel Dettman, Nic Chacona, Real Daniel, Seth Troxler, and this one by D.C.-based Dutch dubstep DJ/producer Martyn. At first it feels less worked-through than Crookers' take, but the more you listen, the more the shuffling, slightly out-of-step backdrop clearly has a life of its own.

The "Seven" single is out 10/5. Fever Ray also announced a limited-edition two-song tour 7" today. It features Karin Dreijer with Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid doing covers by Nick Cave and Anita Lane ("Stranger Than Kindness") and Vashti Bunyan ("Here Before"). You can get more info and place an order over at feverray.com. Speaking of tours, Finnish Outsider Vuk was chosen to open for Dreijer on her U.S. tour:

Fever Ray clearly has the best artwork of the year, by a landslide.

This is one of my favorites of the album but this remix is horrible!

Why is it that any remix involving The Knife or Fever Ray are mostly horrible! The only remix I've enjoyed so far is Tiga's 1234 remix of Triangle Walks

This group of remixers is waaay more legit than I thought it might be. Dettmann one is probably the best. Martyn one is not bad. For some reason, indie kids like electronic things up to a point, but then once you actually cross the line into techno/house/dubstep they run for the woods. For shame!
