MySplice.06 - The Year In Mash-Ups

Do albums matter as much as singles anymore? We like to think so. But 2006 was a great year for indie acts representing with a hot track. We wanted to figure a way to celebrate the year in music with you guys, and thank y'all for being a part of the Stereogum family. (Aww, emo hugs all around.) Everybody argues, everybody laughs, but you're here 'cause you love music! Or you Googled "lindsay lohan crotch"?

Anyway, we got together with our favorite mash-up artist, team9, and concocted a Year In Review bastard pop mix featuring 2006's most notable ear candy. You'll hear blog faves mashed for the first time, and a bit of classic rock thrown in for good measure. Our friend Steve made this nifty cover:

Stereogum & team9 Present... MySplice.06.
A Mash For Friends.

One track's called "Flaming Clipse." Intrigued? Read on for the tunes...

Tracklist
01 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Swan Together" (Thom Yorke vs. The Beatles)
02 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Lets Make Love And Listen To Junior Boys" (CSS vs. Junior Boys)
03 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Daddy And The Thief" (Wolfmother vs. Gnarls Barkley)
04 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Cold War Fiasco" (Cold War Kids vs. Lupe Fiasco vs. Lily Allen)
05 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Silent Saints" (The Knife vs. U2 & Green Day vs. Spank Rock)
06 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Big School" (Hot Chip vs. Peter Gabriel)
07 team9 vs. Stereogum - "When Will My Cheated Heart" (Yeah Yeah Yeahs vs. Diana Ross)
08 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Flaming Clipse" (Flaming Lips vs. Clipse)
09 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Roscoe Eyes" (Midlake vs. Jimi Hendrix)
10 team9 vs. Stereogum - "Young Cats" (Peter Bjorn And John vs. The Cure)

Download the ZIP file here -- and tell us which one's your favorite! Thanks again to the incredible team9 for working with us on this!

If you wanna show your thanks, help us beat David Gilmour's blog in the Weblog Awards. Vote here for Sterogum [sic]. Kevin Costner Dot Com WHAT THE FUCK! 2003.

Oh man, I love Team9. I noticed the other day on his site people coming over from Stereogum...

His "Clash Machine", is awesome, and Both White Stripes mashups (with NERD and JayZ) are two of my favorites.

just a suggestion: create a torrent of all 10 (plus that jpg) if you're worried about any server issues (plus, much more convenient).

A zip/rar hosted somewhere would also work, (and might be preferred by many visitors,) but do I even need to comment on rapidshare?

Addendum: regarding, "Better download the Beatles one before Apple makes you guys take it down..." -- torrent also circumvents this.

I was wondering why my mash “The 7th Inning Stretch” didn’t make the 2006 Top 100?
That mash was so huge all over the US, UK, Germany, China, Japan, and Switzerland!
I guarantee you’ve heard it! It got tons of publicity, thousands beyond thousands of downloads, and other numerous awards
I’m attaching it to this message
I hope you listen to it, and then realize it should have made not only the Top 100, but EASILY the Top 10!!!
