New Andrew Bird - "Placticities"
Just last week we started salivating over the pending release of Andrew Bird's Armchair Apocrypha, having been treated to nearly an entire set's worth of the record's cuts. And on first listen, we're right impressed by Andrew's direction. On "Placticities," Andrew starts with familiar devices -- stabs of pizzicato violin, his elastic voice, a quick hint of whistle -- before bringing an electric guit to follow the hook's melodic flourish. It's a good one, but most of 'em are. Grab it at YANP.

He just appeared on the children's program 'Jack's Big Music Show' as Dr. Stringz, a magical stringed instrument repairmen who appears to save a puppet's hammer dulcimer.
My 2-year old was perplexed by my excitement.

Out of the three I think "Placticites" is wonderful and clearly the anthem of this album.

Hey cool I saw him on Friday night supporting Joanna Newsom at a one-off show in Sydney. Very interesting live with the multiple looping samplers. He kinda looks and talks like Luke Wilson.
