New Apples In Stereo - "Energy"

Yes, it's true: E6ers The Apples In Stereo invented a friggin' scale (the "Non-Pythagorian Music Scale") for their first release with Yep Roc and Elijah Wood's Simian Records. But don't be scared! Let this, the first single from New Magnetic Wonder stand testament to Robert Schneider's commitment to lo-fi jangle pop, hummable melodies, and old Beatles breaks.

The Apples In Stereo - "Energy" (MP3)

Sorry Robert; it's better than "Stephen, Stephen."

New Magnetic Wonder is out 2/6/07 on Simian/Elephant 6/Yep Roc Records.

Oh my god, it's terrible to begin with and then the words start.

Those are some complicated lyrics, eh?

It's only a matter of time before this song appears on a Prius commercial. Or maybe Weight Watchers, I dunno.

Am I the only one that thinks this song is a mash-up of "Take Your Momma Out" "Revolution" and "Rock the Boat" with different lyrics?

I liked this song a lot better before I thought of seeing it in a commercial.

Although it does make me think like it's a whole song built off of the hook in that Annie Lennox song, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart"-- "...and the world/ will be a better place..."

Been listening to this one for a good month now, and seriously, if we don't hear this song in, like, a soda commercial, a gas company commercial, or some lame restaurant commercial, I'll be very very surprised.

I really think this album is a contender for best album of 2007. Yes, it's pure pop, but done so well, you just have to keep listening.

I don't know why they didn't make Can You Feel It? the first single. That song is so fun. Energy is a downer by comparision. I suppose it is more insightful than Can You Feel It? but it's not nearly as fun.

Turn up the stereo!
