New Atmosphere - "Sunshine"

"Sunshine" finds Minneapolis rap duo Atmosphere (MC Slug + DJ Ant) on a "Summertime" kick. (Yup, the Fresh Prince homage 'n' flow is pretty obvious before Slug name drops and echoes him near song's end.) The "simple" song opens with a hangover and a bike ride, then spins through a good-vibes laundry list (BBQ's, butterflies, bumpin' birds, bikes ... and some things that don't start with "b") alongside a Snoop Dogg pitch
squiggle and a piano twinkle that had us reminiscing over Common's "Retrospect For Life" minus the abortion theme. Nope nothing sad here! Truth is the Atmosphere might be a bit too sunny: Dudes, while we dig the posicore, not every woman "looks better in a sundress" (same goes for the male equivalent, whatever that is). We do understand, though ... as Will Smith dropped it way back in 1991, "It's like the summer's a natural aphrodisiac." Too true.

Atmosphere - "Sunshine" (MP3)

The track's the lead to Sad Clown Bad Summer 9, a stop-gap for Atmosphere's sixth full-length When Life Gives You Lemons.... According to the band, you have until early next year for the biggie, so might as well make some lemonade and sip on this.

Aww...I miss loving Atmosphere. I meet them at a show in Dallas and they were complete dicks to us. I know its all because of the stress of being on the road, but I still didn't get over it enough to go see them again. Of course, I still smoke a blunt and turn on their record every now and again.

it's more likely it's because they're just giant dicks in general
