New Blitzen Trapper - "Furr"

thumbnail icon: New Blitzen Trapper - "Furr"

Urban Outfitters = cool clothes. (Not really.) They also = cool music. (Also not really.) Regardless, if you head to the UO blog, you can jump into the LSTN #1 compilation (very RCRD LBL) and download 21 free tunes, including "Furr" from the forthcoming (mighty fine) Blitzen Trapper album of the same name (out 9/23 on Sub Pop). The track's mellow and straight-up folky until they let a harmonica in with a few electronics, making it a little coyote spacey but still pastoral. As far as the rest of LSTN #1, you'll likely already have it on your iPod. (Yes, even "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You," traitors.)

Wow - an awesomely generous mix. I do have some of these songs (I got them here!), but there are plenty that are new to me, so I look forward to discovering some cool new songs and bands - which is exactly what I count on Stereogum to hook me up with! Thanks, guys!

Well Lethe, I don't think this post was exactly intended to introduce you to much via UO, hence the content of the parentheses. That being said, Furr is an awesome album. Wild Mountain Nation was really well done, and I'm glad to see them continue to put out work that gets better.

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
