New caUSE Co-MOTION! - "Which Way Is Up?"
![]()
When writing up Crystal Stilts earlier today, I mentioned label/city-mates caUSE Co-MOTION!, a quartet with a snotty, upbeat approach to stripped-down classic-seeming noise pop. Over the past three years they've released singles on various labels -- What's Yr Rupture?, Cape Shok, Can't Cope, Slumberland. They've collected these brief jangle anthems on It's Time, a recommended 14-track, 21-minute compilation coming out on Slumberland at the end of the month. You might hear some early Pastels, 14 Iced Bears, Comet Gain or less twee Crayon/way more twee Some Velvet Sidewalk in their sloppy, hyper, reverb-soaked sound. Maybe think of them as a male counterpoint to the Vivian Girls' updated K-punk/C86.

You can sample more caUSE Co-MOTION! at their MySpace. Try the super "Only Fades Away," "I Lay Awake," "Who's Gonna Care?," etc.

It's lame when bands don't capitalize things right. It makes them seem like they're trying to be all J-Pop or something.

So true. Especially when there's nothing clever about the way it's done, or when it doesn't even start with a capital letter. I have a very orderly music folder, and damn it, I like proper nouns to start with a capital letter!
Yes, I am anal and both my mothers teach seventh grade English.

I don't mean to be critical or judgmental about any form of art or expression. However this does not sound like anything I would enjoy listening to.
