New Cheeseburger - "Jellybean" & "Saturday Nite"

thubmnail icon: New Cheeseburger - "Jellybean" & "Saturday Nite"

It makes good sense that the first time I saw Cheeseburger was a couple years ago at a New Year's party in someone's -- I forget whose -- loft. Makes sense because the New Yorkers are a quintessential party band. "Quintessential" if you're into sloppy punch-drunk rock 'n' roll, etc. They're are currently on their Tales Of Colt 45 tour and have a digital EP to coincide with it: The EP includes "Jellybean," from their forthcoming new Kemado album, as well as a new version of the older song "Saturday Nite." It's only Monday, but just pretend.

Cheeseburger is the worst name for a band since The Muslims (or I guess vice versa--though I heard of The Muslims first).

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
