New Crystal Antlers - "Andrew"

thubmnail icon: New Crystal Antlers - "Andrew"

Long Beach sextet Crystal Antlers' forthcoming Tentacles will ostensibly be the last new album released by Touch & Go. If that indeed proves to be the case, it's not a bad way to go out: Tentacles is a baker's dozen fuzzed, sweaty, and swinging psychedelic, expansive, and noisy garage rock (etc.) tracks. Expanding the scope of the self-titled 2008 EP that got them signed to T&G in the first place, these songs find the guys digging their feet in deeper, showcasing an even stronger reach. The album culminates in the moving 7-minute downtempo, synthesized, echo howled, and free-feedback finale "Several Tongues." For now, take a listen to something earlier on the program, the bluesy "Andrew," which we first saw in its live form.

Well if this track is anything to go by, I think T&G will have a pretty good swan song. The only release I'm more looking forward to this year rhymes with schmizzly bear.

Well, the link works now, but the file seems to be incomplete, Brandon. Unless the song really ends up abruptly mid-sentence like that at 2:05.

You might want to try reading that T&G press release again. They are going to continue as a label, but shuttered their distro wing.
