New Cyndi Lauper & Basement Jaxx - "Rocking Chair"

thumbnail icon: New Cyndi Lauper & Basement Jaxx - "Rocking Chair"

Surprising us all, Cyndi Lauper has graduated from her turn in Japan For Africa to "Rocking Chair," a collaboration with Basement Jaxx. The track appears on Bring Ya To The Brink, which is out next week and includes production work by Kleerup, Dragonette, Scumfrog, Axwell, a few with Rich Morel, and etc. On "Rocking Chair," the middle cheerleader part's a bit Gwen-y. It's an interesting upgrade, but it's also somewhat icy, diluting a bit of what makes Lauper unique. Like, hey, there's no doubting David Wolff (and Captain Lou) knew her best. Take a listen. The tracks you can stream at her MySpace have a similar polish. Lauper heads out on the "True Colors" tour next week. Check here to see if she comes to your city, Mashantucket.

What i've heard of this album blows Madonna out of the water. It's a great venture for Cyndi even though she shouldn't mask that amazing voice in production and blah blah blah but still, it's fun and catchy!

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
