New Fridge - "Clocks"

It's been six years in the making, but it will take just one listen of The Sun to get you raving. Though its release is still a month off, Fridge -- the post-rock trio that's proven to be a supergroup of sorts (comprising Kieran Hebden a.k.a. Four Tet, Adem, and Sam Jeffers) -- have crafted a masterwork of Slint summoning, sophisticated sound collages, sitting high and mighty on Stereogum's stuffed Best of '07 list. The trio's groove explorations dive from punchy, beat-displaced vamps and sample swooshes into luscious, melodic atmospherics, offering a sequence of songs that cut along with a sound-serrating edge and virtuoso sheen. Two of the best tracks you'll grab this week, or your money back.

Fridge - "Eyelids" (MP3)

Really, though, the record deserves a full, and repeated, listens. The Sun is out on 6/19 on Temporary Residence. After six years, five weeks ain't too long to wait.

yeah all of their stuff takes a bit to get winding and then you realize where it's been building from and it's amazing. happiness is still one of my favorite records of all time
