New Genghis Tron - "Things Don't Look Good" (Rob Crow Remix)

thubmnail icon: New Genghis Tron - "Things Don't Look Good" (Rob Crow Remix)

Genre-hopping Philadelphia electro post-grind trio Genghis Tron released Board Up The House a few months ago and have been touring since (in August they head out with the Faint and new Matador signing Jaguar Love). Instead of coming up for air, they've prepped five limited-edition vinyl-only remix LPs, which will be released by five different labels: Temporary Residence Ltd., GT member Mookie Singerman's Lovepump, anticon, GT's current home Relapse, and Crucial Blast. The re-mixers and knob-twiddlers include Black Moth Super Rainbow, DNTEL, Telefon Tel Aviv, Subtle, awesome Norwegian ex-black metaller Ulver, Odd Nosdam, Jesu's Justin Broadrick, Tim Hecker, the Finnish crew Circle, and others ... like Rob Crow. We have Crow's rattling, dynamic remix of "Things Don't Look Good," which otherwise shows up on the first 12". He's definitely channeling his Goblin Cock.

You can take a listen to "Things Don't Look Good" in its original form at GT's MySpace. This Crow's appears on Temporary Residence's installment with Steve Moore (Zombi), Jesu, and Eluvium, which is available for pre-order via Temporary Residence as of today. The series continues through 2008, so keep your ear to the ground. Each is limited to 1,000 colored vinyl copies and features a cover by California-based Board Up The House artist Jon Beasley.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
