New Iron & Wine - "Boy With A Coin"

Good news indie-folkers: the first single from bearded Sam Beam's LP number three is a knockout. "Boy With A Coin" sets multi-tracked Beams to a djembe, handclaps, and a fully realized production palette couching Sam's acoustic "African-sounding guitar thing" in traveling bass and wet, scene-setting electric guit work. No doubt Iron & Wine's working with a beefed-up studio budget, and it's a relief to hear the Sub Pop singer-songwriter avoiding the overwrought schlock trap. Have a listen at MOKB.

The Shepherd's Dog is tentatively due out this September on Sub Pop.

Can't wait to hear the record, and now I'm even more psyched by the fact that the cynical internet hasn't said "omg this sux wtf" yet...

this album is indeed killer. between this shameful leak, and listening to the new pornographers stream, my nose is bleeding a pool. 2007 is a retarded monster with a big high five to give.

I haven't heard the album, but I must say this song is great. I like the more percussive sound he's been developing.
