New Jens Lekman - "The Opposite Of Hallelujah"

You've been around Jens's not-so-silent stylings long enough to know how he works: deft wordplay, wry wit, dressing his misery in breezy throwback pop. The excellent Night Falls At Kortedala has plenty more Lekmanic (think we just coined that) novelties to enjoy (case in point: "Friday Night At The Drive-In Bingo" and the previously released "The Opposite Of Hallelujah", below), but we're gonna use this space to throw our words behind the hilarious doo-wop ditty "Postcard To Nina" -- if you've seen Jens at all recently, you've heard the Jens-as-lesbian's-beard tune, but now that it's been officially documented on Kortedala, "Nina"'s on our shortlist for track of the year. Jens "would do anything for love" -- even that -- and brings out the 15-year-old girl in us. Sigh.

I love the whole album, but "Kanske Ar Jag Kar I Dig" is my current favorite. Jens is the king.

He actually has an EP called The Opposite of Hallelujah, with the song in question on it.
