New Julie Doiron - "Consolation Prize"

thubmnail icon: New Julie Doiron - "Consolation Prize"

In March classic Eric's Tripper and Phil Elverum collaborator Julie Doiron's releasing I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day, her official followup to 2007's Woke Myself Up. All we've heard so far is "Consolation Prize," but it finds Doiron in more of an electric (not acoustic) Eric's Trip mode than recent solo turns. Makes sense: Her Trip mate Rick White handled bass and keyboards to her guitars and voice. (Fred Squire, who also played on Lost Wisdom, again took care of drums.) For those of you who've missed the ragged moments of Love Tara, etc., this ought to do the trick.

Julie Doiron - "Consolation Prize" (MP3)

The songs in order of appearance:

01 "Lovers Of The World"
02 "Tailor"
03 "Heavy Snow"
04 "Nice To Come Home"
05 "Consolation Prize"
06 "Je Le Savais"
07 "When Brakes Get Wet"
08 "Borrowed Minivans"
09 "Blue"
10 "Glad To Be Alive"

The album will have these two on the front of it:

I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day is out 3/10 via Jagjaguwar. She'll be at SXSW, so keep your eyes open. And your ears.

Hey, quite a few of those songs are actually by Shotgun & Jaybird like: Lovers of the World, Borrowed Minivans, and Blue (I think Blue is). They are very good. Seen them live and they sound great. Very excited for this album!
