New Karl Blau - "Dark Sedan"

thubmnail icon: New Karl Blau - "Dark Sedan"

No matter how sunny he gets, Karl Blau's always sounded autumnal to me. Maybe its because he lives in Anacortes, Washington, a place you can't help but associate with his cohort/collaborator Phil Elverum, whose sort of the king of falling leaves and crisp breezes (aka the wind's dark poem). Whatever the case, "Dark Sedan," from Zebra, Blau's followup to last year's Nature Got Away, is a perfect example of what I mean: A horn-lined strut, disco drum snap, and brightly tinny keyboards can't hide the fact that he's hitchhiking in the face of oncoming night, apples and old crow bones littering the side of the road.

Karl Blau is incredible, far more talented than any of the acts he's always associated with. Best K Artist, even better than the microphones.

so prolific and such a kind dude who's always changing his idiom.

everyone should go to his shows with LAKE this fall and talk to him and support him, or at least give this shit attention and pass it along to someone who will like it.

Agreed. Always loved the man and this track just affirms it. Shame that fifteen years of being a really nice guy who makes incredible and eclectic music isn't enough for people. What we prefer is a 21 year old dismissive and un-insightful prick who can’t hold his Xanax onstage.

Saw him a few years ago in NYC, the only thing I'd heard from him was shit he did with Phil Elverum. pretty damn good live

this dude is so good and he does not get anything close to the recognition he deserves. just listen to 'dragon song' and it will blow your mind.
