New Los Campesinos! - "The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future"

thumbnail icon: New Los Campesinos! - "The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future"

This new Los Campesinos! songs finds the Welsh septet spinning a tale about a far-too-pretty too-thin girl who's taking her "diet" to extremes ("she's not eating again / she's not eating again"), filling up on pills and thoughts of her mother's early death "from allergic reaction to a general anesthetic." For the accompanying video the band went to Barry Island with a bunch of friends and some beers and returned with that true-life aesthetic we've seen from their recent tourmates Girls via "Hellhole Ratrace" and "Lust For Life." Ellen Campesinos and her friend Owain shot it. The song and the clip grow darker together. As far as the title: "The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future" for a bunch of reasons, but partly because of the solitude, perfect symmetry.

Defiantly one of my most liked bands from this decade. I'm sad that the female singer, Aleks, left the band, I like the boy/girl tag team vocals.

This new song is also really good, it is a bit gloomy, just like what fontman Gareth said.

a far cry from anything on Hold On Now, Youngster... (which was a great work) but it's still good. it's the way they have been going since the second album.

Makes me even more excited for the new album. I like the direction they're going in, because IMO, We Are Beautiful We Are Doomed absolutely destroyed Hold On Youngster. And I really liked Hold On Youngster.

i don't think anything can absolutely destroy Hold On Now, Youngster.

like it alot after a few listens, definitely seems to be the direction of the new album, but it's not as great as their past "slower" songs such as accelerated readers, finger for crossing, or heartswells. regardless i love me some lc.

Wow, time for me to predict 2010 as The Year of LC! (...again... after twice being wrong).
