thubmnail icon: New Manu Chao - "Politik Kills" (Chris Blackwell & Paul "Groucho" Smykle Remix)

French-born, Spanish-based Latin Grammy winner Manu Chao's "Politik Kills" is getting the remix treatment on the appropriately titled Politik Kills Remix EP. Various folks are twisting and turning knobs on the chilled La Radiolina manifesto, including Linton Kwesi Johnson and Dennis Bovell as well as Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and respected reggae engineer Paul "Groucho" Smykle. We have the chilled-out Blackwell and Smykle take for your Primary-time listening pleasure. Prep the Sangria and don the teevas, please.

Manu Chao - "Politik Kills" (Chris Blackwell & Paul "Groucho" Smykle Remix) (MP3)

You can hear the original version over at ManuSpace.

The Politik Kills Remix EP is out digitally today and in hard copy 6/3 via Nacional. You can find out more at the PolitiKills, where you're able to download the different "stems" of the track, in the spirit of Radiohead's "Nude" contest.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...
