New Mission Of Burma - "1, 2, 3, Partyy!"

Dinosaur Jr. aren't the only ones releasing stellar material in their post-reunion life: Judging from the sort of off-the-wall quality of Mission Of Burma's ONoffON and The Obliterati, there's no reason to doubt their third reformation collection Sound The Speed The Light (plus, we respect our elders). The band's fourth proper full-length since their formation in the late '70s was recorded by post-Martin Swope member Bob Weston in the band's hometown. Matador has a few details:

[T]he record is a departure from the pinned-needles roar of 2006's The Obliterati. The new album sounds far more spacious and dynamic. It is more or less divided into 4 sets or suites of 3 songs. Each suite explores a set of moods or colors, across the usual dizzying array of lyrical topics, from alcoholism to fleshly concerns.

As far as "fleshly concerns," take a listen to the ecstatic, just-in-time-for-Monday chant of opener "1, 2, 3, Partyy!"

The Sound The Speed The Light is out 10/6 via Matador. You can pre-order it at Matador. A few weeks before that, on 8/18, MOB are releasing a 7" that includes two non-album tracks, "Innermost" and "Here It Comes." You'll be able to pre-order that one soon, too.
