New Money Mark - Brand New By Tomorrow

Maybe you guys remember Money Mark as the guy who brought the retro-riffing keys to Check Your Head and Ill Communication as the unofficial fourth Beastie Boy. This year sees the release of his fourth full-length, and it's a gear shift, showing the tender underbelly to Mark's otherwise funky compositions. This premiere is a good example of the sincere Money, all acoustic strums and acoustic piano.

Money Mark - "Everyday I Die A Little" (MP3)

And in case you missed it a few weeks back, here's another from the record, drawing on those Check Your Head keys. No Average White Band here.

Money Mark - "Pick Up The Pieces" (MP3)

Brand New By Tomorrow is out 2/27/07 on Brushfire.

His first album was full of some pretty catchy stuff, too-- even though I've long since lost the album, I still get "Hand in my Head" stuck in my brain on occassion.

Actually just picked up a used copy of Push the Button this weekend for a dollar. Definitely quality. Under normal circumstances, it's solid. For a dollar, it's frickin fantastic.

Thanks for these! Looking forward to this one.

He is one of Danger Mouse's sidekicks. MM got DM into collecting keyboards following The Mouse & The Mask.

this guys is brilliant. totally underrated. remember beck's "where it's at?" the catchy hook keyboard lick? that's him, as well as a buttload of other tunes that he never gets credit for. great songwriter too. good for mark, glad to see he's back in the saddle.
