New Patty Griffin - "Heavenly Day"

Vet singer-songwriter Patty Griffin has been covered by the esteemed likes of Emmylou Harris, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, and Jessica Simpson -- and now is set to follow-up the awesome Impossible Dream with her forthcoming, fifth effort, a collection of folk-inspired tunes with lush strings ("I Don't Ever Give Up"), roots-y, storytelling ballads ("Trapeze"), and uptempo acoustic rockers ("No Bad News"). Each cut is pushed and colored by her voice, turning even the simplest progressions into slow-building, moving works -- and "Heavenly Day" is a great take on her vocal in action. Fans of Essence-era Lucinda Williams, take note.

Patty Griffin - "Heavenly Day" (MP3)

Children Running Through is out 2/6/07 on ATO.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the latest from Patty. Amazon does not have songs to play...but as noted B&N does. Check out 'You'll remember me' (with stand up bass) and 'burgundy shoes' (with piano).

Hey, folks. I've been jonesing to get my hands on a copy of Patty Griffin's "Silver Bell" bootleg for a while now--it's her wouldabeen third album, which her label refused to release. Does anybody have it, want to post it, or know where I can find it? Thanks!

I KNOW it sucks that the LA venue is sold out! It's such a small place that's why it sold fast. But they are saying that Patty will be back in LA in March...something to look forward to! :)

Horse Feathers - "Father"

Portland songwriter Justin Ringle's evocative vocal twang and sharp lyricism are at the center of Horse Feathers' bedroom Americana. The band's second album House With No Home, which follows 2006's Words Are Dead, finds Ringle's vision fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist/composer...
