New Santogold (Feat. M.I.A. & Gorilla Zoe) - "Get It Up"

thubmnail icon: New Santogold (Feat. M.I.A. & Gorilla Zoe) - "Get It Up"

We know that former tour partners Santi and Maya are both Clash fans and Diplo associates, but it looked like the latter's "retirement" was going to get in the way of the inevitable collab. Turns out they did a track together last year but only now do we get to hear it. The song "Get It Up" is a Radioclit production that also features Gorilla Zoe and elephant noises. It's on Diplo's Top Ranking Santogold mixtape from Mad Decent, and here's a stream.

More details on the mix from Turntable Lab, where you can order it:

Just as Diplo killed it on MIA's Piracy Funds Terrorism mix that dropped before her debut, he does it again with Brooklyn's own Santogold, mixing up jams off her recent debut album. Expect to hear exclusive blends and mixes of her singles, masterfully executed by Diplo himself. The styles flow smoothly from everything under the sun: dirty south, club, classic cuts, dance tracks, dancehall, dubstep, reggae and more. What's also cool is that although she's signed to a big label like Downtown, this is a Mad Decent pressing. So props to Diplo for making this happen. Expect to hear shit from Santi (duh), XXXchange, Ratatat, Richie Spice, Three 6 Mafia, B-52's, Kid Cudi, Switch, Radioclit, Benga, Tony Matterhorn, Skream, Warrior Queen, Barrington Levy, and more. The mix is 75 minutes, perfect for the summertime jams.

Here's a Diplo remix that actually isn't on the comp.

And here's "Creator" from yesterday's free Santogold show at Central Park with Diplo, Kid Cudi and A-Trak.

"Get It Up" is the best song of the centuryso far. even though it's actually three songs in one. The last time anything this musically creative has been put together was during The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper recording sessions. From Zoe's brilliantly timed rap to Santogold's eerie, Tegan & Sara-isque bridge to M.I.A.'s encouraging command "You can get it up!", this track is nothing short of a masterpiece. Extra points for the half-second laser sampled from the beginning of 311's "AllMixed Up".
