New Sprites - "I Started A Blog Nobody Read"

Thanks Ryan for the heads up about the new one from Sprites, ex-Barcelona frontman's Jason Korzen's band with wife Amy. It's acoustic new wave, and silly. Very silly.

That song's about YOU. Fun, right?

Two more Sprites tunes. "I Go Crazy" is a Flesh For Lulu cover. "George Romero" is about George Romero.

Check out their MySpace. Sprites' album Modern Gameplay is out in September on Darla.

Instantly, I liked their sound. I don't think, for one minute, they wrote a song about blogs hoping it would get them blog exposure! I wait with baited breath for the CD, which will hopefully have a song about buying a CD full of songs I've already downloaded from the internet.

New contest: First person/group to write a song with "Stereogum" in the lyrics wins! The prize: You will inevitably get posted on Stereogum. Hop to.

Yeah, that blog song leaves a bad taste in my mouth too. It's too opportunistic.

Incredible-and I mean almost as good as the original-Flesh for Lulu cover though. Billion times better than Nada Surf's "If You Leave."
