New Sunset Rubdown - "Winged/Wicked Things"

It's true, we've already fawned over Random Spirit Lover and most of you have kept the conversation lively (Spencer, if you're out there, get ready for a major ego swell then check the comments) -- but this one's for the children who are playing nice and waiting for Sunset sanctioned audio and purchasing instructions. And the band's making it worth it, so here we go. As an appetizer, take the epic (aren't they all), Poseidon-referencing (they aren't all), bejeweled standout "Winged/Wicked Things" for that iPod Touch you're buying this month...

Sunset Rubdown - "Winged/Wicked Things" (MP3)

Add that to "Up On Your Leopard..." and, understandably, you're frothy for LP purchase info. You've got a few options. First, end the suspense and preorder the record through Jagjaguwar here and get yourself a "digital download coupon" that'll allow you a full album download sometime after 9/25.

But if you have access to a discerning indie record store, that's your best bet. For one, they may just have access to this advance digital download deal (you'll have to check) -- but even better, if you order early enough, you'll get a silk-screened poster featuring some original Spencer artwork ("a herd of unicorns fighting a winged man-thing," natch). Available in a limited run of 800, fyi, and not available through the Jagjaguwar pre-order. If all you've got nearby is Target, don't bother, and just try your luck at Insound; they'll have a small number to give with preorders, too.

Finally, SR's added a date to their fall swing through North America (Montreal, that's quite the bill you've got there). Full dates below.

Random Spirit Lover is out 10/9 via Jagjaguwar. And you really should get it.

the more I listen to Random Spirit Lover, the less impressive it gets.. I mean, there's no song as good as "Stadiums and Shrines II"...It's okay. A worthy successor to Shut Up, though.

Winged/Wicked Things is definitely a highlight though!

its the exact opposite to me. when i first listened to it i liked it. i liked it a whole bunch. but the more i listen to it the more i love it. the more i listen to it the more i find that that one song which i thought was only ok, is actually really really good.

I like "Random." It's good for sure, even great.

But I feel like the comments on the "Premature" post were like a circle jerk of veiled viral marketers drumming up buzz and drooling fanboys.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great album, but I mean, commmmmme-onnnnnnnnnnn.

this album is such a disappointment. sigh, nothing from this year even touches the greatness of Hell Hath No Fury by Clipse, which everyone should listen to instead of this garbage.

Hey Spencer, maybe you should just shut up and play the keyboard. I'm sure that Alexi could fill in for you.
